Killzone 2 PS3 bundle confirmed for UK

Sony still quiet on game's release date.

Sony has confirmed the Killzone 2 PlayStation 3 bundle for the UK.

The price will be GBP 299.99, but - as with the game - the date has yet to be set. We're promised something "shortly", even though retailers agree on 27th February - the confirmed US release.

Americans will also be treated to a demo for Guerrilla's exclusive PS3 shooter a day before release, or from 2nd February if pre-ordering from GameStop. There's no word on exact European demo plans, but we've been told to expect one.

Killzone 2, first announced via the infamous E3 2005 target render trailer, is shaping up rather well. We've had plenty of time to get acquainted with the handsome game, with our latest hands-on impressions published just under two weeks ago.

That and much more can be found over on our Killzone 2 gamepage.

    Sony Stop Tempting Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

300 GBP should be around 324 Euros. Is this the price reduction MS and analysts hinted at recently?
  • booner #3 3 years ago

A price drop to £200 would be nice. But they will rake it in with this game release first!
  • peteb #4 3 years ago

A month before the games supposed release and they can't tell people when its coming out for sure in UK yet. This is exactly what is wrong with Sony this gen.

    Also, looking forward to it!
  • schnide #5 3 years ago

Don't you think you can let the target render thing drop now, EG?
  • mcbi4kh2 #6 3 years ago

Not a chance, it will be mentioned in the first paragraph of the review.
  • Vanmunt #7 3 years ago

You can have my PS3, it's gathering dust and more...

    unlike your dildo.

    @Broombeer

Methinks not, its still to expensive for the average joe. Killzone just doesn't have the pull of 'H*** and G**.

Its a gamers game and most gamers will have either a PS3 or 360 by now.

I would say it can expect modest sales
  • Moonprince #10 3 years ago

Halo and GOW are not 'gamers games'??
  • FirewalkR #11 3 years ago

I'm also curious... I know GBP has been dropping hard against EUR, but 299... 324 euros, in the mainland the PS3 is still selling at 399 euros. Has it been 299 GBP for a long time?
  • systems #12 3 years ago

They're wasting their time with all these special bundles adding to the confusion. Just sell the bloody console with a headset, the remote and a HDMI cable in the box and have done with it.
  • Gaol #13 3 years ago

It's been £299 for ages FirewalkR; Sony are making a lot less per unit sale in the UK than they were this time last year. So I wouldn't expect a price cut anytime soon, they are probably struggling to keep the price on a level for us sterling paupers.

    That boxart be fugly.

Price is the same as the LBP pack, so it's an 80GB with DS3. Same ol', same ol'. Maybe Sony should stop these pack-ins with special boxes and just, y'know, have a single box for the 80GB SKU with which they just include the bonuses?

sanctusmortis: "That boxart be fugly. "

Although, it saves Sony spending ad money, since there's just no possible way you could miss that on the shelf.
  • stepneg #16 3 years ago

Still to expensive for what would be in addition to my 360's, I want one but it's not worth £300
  • kangarootoo #17 3 years ago

"Man, what are you funny! You must be the clown of the familiy aren't you? Grow up, you don't even know what to use a dildo for."

    Unlike your good self, obviously

...oh come on, Vanmunt's comment was kind of funny. Being able to laugh at yourself on occasion is a good thing.

PS3 price, especially in the UK, has been a problem from the first day of release for Sony fans such as myself. If Sony would just stop messing around with bundles - in unsuccessful attempts to make their extortionately priced console look attractive - and actually focussed on being competitive, as well as bringing back backwards compatibility, then I might consider the damn thing. Otherwise, I'm quite happily enjoying several titles on my PS2 and PSP units at the moment.

Nintendo started with a reasonable price. Microsoft has now reached a more-than reasonable price. So what is Sony's problem? Surely they must realise now that they will NEVER recoup their hardware development costs for this third generation and must therefore focus on being competitive to increase their installed base? Is that not a reasonable and logical point?

I mean, even stand-alone BluRay players now cost less than the PS3, so that argument about people buying it because it's a cheap BluRay player is no longer valid; something that harks back from the old days of the PS2 being a cheap DVD player.

So what is Sony's problem? Do they not want to win our hearts and minds this time around?
  • teabagger #20 3 years ago

    "Why would you want one?"

Says the person that, apparently, owns two Elites....
Mind you, I guess having two could be useful in the same way that I have a spare inner tube for my bike in the cupboard.

    ;)

"And although I'm from The Netherlands and Killzone is a game product (one of the few) of the Dutch, I still know it's going to be overhyped to the max and when it's out it's going to be so underwhelmingly bad. Like a deja-vu, so to speak."

If you know its going to be crap then why are you here? Why bother finding out about it at all?

But don't worry I'll correct your statement for you:
"I still know it's going to be overhyped to the max and when it's out I have no idea what its going to be like because I haven't played the damn thing."
  • Pedrolot #22 3 years ago

    That case is lush..

    @ xXBrombeerXx

Personally, after 7 xbox's. I think your mad.
  • Skeletor #24 3 years ago

Considering the price of the PS3 I can pretty much echoe what zedzee wrote...a German electronic chain is selling a standalone bluray player for €169 at the moment and even this price will most likely plummet over the next couple of months. There's no way Sony will be able to keep their €399 price tag if their really want to move units the way MS does.

"10p says this game will be mediocre at best."
"I still know it's going to be overhyped to the max and when it's out it's going to be so underwhelmingly bad. Like a deja-vu, so to speak."

Haha, you can see the jealousy lurking through their little fanboy veins! I love it!

They're in for a horrible surprise.
