Killzone 2 patch arriving this week

Plus: PSN ID bans for cheaters.

Guerrilla Games says patch 1.21 will go live for Killzone 2 this week.

That's according to staff member Seb Downie, who posts on the official forum that exact timing will be confirmed today.

The patch reinstates online bots and lets players create their own unranked games. There are plenty of other tweaks and fixes besides.

The fix should put an end to various exploits, too, which the developer says it will take a much tougher stance on.

"Glitchers risk losing their PSN ID altogether. We've been quite lenient so far but that's going to change," said Guerrilla, via Twitter.

Guerrilla also offers a preview of the areas targeted for future patches. These include expanding control, game creation and clan options, as well as improving game searches and overall stability.

None of this, Downie adds, has anything to do with the DLC that Guerrilla is working on. Dates and details for that are still to come.

I imagine it's just like getting your SteamID banned so you have to re-purchase any paid for content if you want to play said content online. Alternatively they may just ban you account from all KZ2 servers.

What's the point of banning someone on psn? Surely they would just as easily recreate a new account and continue on without any form of penalty?

Maybe they will ban your ISP from the PS3, so in theory even if you make a new account it'd still be banned.

Goddamn cheaters need shooting. i f you cheat then you should get banned.

You are losing your points, ranks, badges and medals and have to start the MP from scratch. For someone who is up in the four or even five digit point number and has unlocked all special abilities that's quite a penalty.

Is there a specific form of cheating that is causing grief?

@chessboxer : Not entirely true. You can still just create another PSN ID and play the PSN games as long at the original (and banned) PSN ID is still on the console. Only Warhawk is locked to your PSN ID.

Some people (who don't have a live apparently) lock down maps to one-on-ones with a 'friend' and keep shooting the same guy over and over again

And there are glitches like on the Radec map where you can apparently go somewhere 'outside' of the map (on the roof) and snipe people without ever being exposed to them.

Are they going to allow you to back up your gamesave, that's a must.

I fail to understand how someone can be punished for finding a bug or glitch – Maybe guerrilla QA testers should be flogged instead! And the people who found the bug should be employed as testers!

There is a difference between finding a glitch and actually using it to your advantage.

I know someone who boosted himself to get the online trophys , so its too little too late for the trophy whores im afraid as they will already of exploited it. Now if they retrospectivly get them - that would make me happy

And Man Utd throwing the prem away - that would also make me happy
