Kane & Lynch demo on PAL PSN

Plus SOCOM/Syphon PSP demos.

While our American friends dance around with High Velocity Bowling, Wild Arms and even a silly holiday in November, fortunes are mixed for European PlayStation fans this week - with a Kane & Lynch demo the main PS3 Store highlight.

Things are a bit more interesting on the PSP Store, though, with demo versions of SOCOM: Tactical Strike (out today in Europe) and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, along with green and yellow LocoRoco wallpapers and a trailer for Everybody's Golf.

Elsewhere the PS3 Store also says hello to a MotorStorm livery pack and downloadable Folklore content somewhat newer than the Kidnapped Folk and Bottom of the Sea packs we erroneously got excited about yesterday. Sorry about that. The one on PSN today is called The Origin of Belgae Pack, and in adds four side-quests for the original game, an extra Folk to capture and a new costume for Ellen.

Other additions include themes for Mesmerize, Tori Emaki, Heavenly Sword, Snakeball, MotorStorm, Lemmings, Killzone 2 and SingStar.

After the whole GameSpot thing... Boy, I bet the Kane & Lynch devs didn't see that one coming.

K&L will always be associated with the Gamespot fiasco and it's fake review banners. They say no PR is bad PR, well in this case, I'd disagree.

Bloody hell how many stuff have they added to Folklore in the past 2 months? o_O

Actually, I pity the developers. It is not their fault what Eidos did...

It IS their fault, that this game is bad (at least to some degree) however.

The PS3 version of Kane & Lynch is technically awful compared with the 360 version (which I own). The game has no anti-aliasing at all so it looks like an upscaled PS2 game (I think it looks even jaggier than the jagtastic Halo 3 in fact) plus it even has lots of v-sync tearing and a more sluggish framerate, something I've not seen in the six chapters I've played on the 360. I like the game but I wouldn't recommend the PS3 version at all; if you have a 360 go for that version instead. As per usual, the PS3 gets yet another inferior multiformat game. /rolls eyes

Hey hey, you're not allowed to hate it, remember.

P.S. The free Themes are excellent and the US one also has an Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank one by the way. It's nice to see Sony offering these free; they typically cost £1 on the Xbox 360 and those don't change the icons or anything, only the backgrounds. Nice! :)

Every time I see new stuff for Folklore, I am reminded how much I liked the demo, and I think to myself "I really must pick that game up". Somehow with all the other big hitters around at the moment, it just keeps getting overlooked. Ah well. Maybe in the NewYear. :-)
  • Steroyd #9 5 years ago

yeah I'm hoping to pick it up eventually, I'm pissed I missed a chance to pick Folklore up for £15 god I'm such an idiot. >:(

No XBL demo for kane & lynch, then? This is an outrage!
  • Darren #12 5 years ago

@ParanoidZombie - Eidos probably don't want to show up the poor PS3 version too much by releasing the technically superior 360 version. ;)

    BNinjaC +1

This game could have been a good one, but various issues leave it far behind:
    Crap handling.
    Average graphics (at best)
Confusion on what the game expects the player to do.
    Poor AI
I think that Gerstmann was being very polite with this game.

Oh come on! The only thing they did differently was get caught doing it!

If you dont think nearly every games review works this way and has done for decades.. then quite frankly you're naieve.

Moving away from the whole Kane & Lynch issue: It's been three weeks since Guitar Hero III came out, and we've still not got the downloadable song packs.

Can somebody from Eurogamer try and find out where they are please :p
