Eidos mother-company SCi has decided to release Kane & Lynch and Crossfire on PlayStation 3 after all, having previously planned to dodge Sony's new console until sales really picked up.

It does seem like a complete about-face for them. First they say "no, we're not doing anything until sales pick up", then two weeks later they're announcing all sorts of stuff. Double-bluff? Or did they say it to panic Sony into sending them free hookers?

The games just took long enough to get ready that by the time they're done, there'll be enough PS3s to play them on.

Yeah, I don't think the reason Kane & Lynch is 'delayed' til christmas is because of the new platform. It's probably only good for the overall quality of the game.

So in other words...SCI is circling the drain, they're losing money big time in 2007, how can they survive? How can they justify this to the shareholders??

OF COURSE!

Let's just delay all our titles until the end of the year, blame it on PS3 conversions, then they won't expect us to make any profit until 2009! Nice one team, we've fooled the accountants once again.

Tides are always turning; that is what they do :D

It's absolutely no surprise whatsoever that these titles are coming out on PS3 - I wouldn't expect anything else.

Let's hope they make a better job of the sku than Fear or Splinter Cell.
Thinking about it if IO are involved they usually make sure all platforms have their own specific version rather than just trying to port one over to the other.

This lot always said Kane and Lynch would be coming to PS3 eventually, but they originally said that they'd concentrate on getting it out for PC and 360 first. Stupid idiots! I was looking forward to this game hitting store before Summer, now I'm gonna have to wait even longer :(

Yeah, I don't see that staying console exclusive for long.

Microsoft have actually paid for console exclusivity with Bioshock, so don't expect that on Ps3 for a very long time. On the other hand neither Crossfire or Kane and Lynch were ever considered to be exclusives.

This and the Eternal Sonata news are pretty interesting developments. Indeed the tide is turning. Wonder what will go to the PS3 next?

Well I hardly think it's a PS3 'win' - more of a 'catch-up' ...

Nonetheless, it's interesting to see this development but I'd be mightily fucked off to find out that they agreed to stall the 360 version just to release the PS3 version at around the same time ... Normally this sort of thing wouldn't bother me as business is business but this game was supposed to be out in a couple of months!!

Well, this sufficiently explains the media blackout, that STILL hasn't lifted, on Kane & Lynch. Would be nice to actually know something about it, before it's out, ya know?

The current '360' mag has 7-8 pages on it along with a 'July' release date :(

I can count the multiplatform titles that I got for last gen on a single hand. In general, next gen games can't hold a candle to games developed specifically for a single platform. The abundance of multiplatform games in this gen is a bad development IMHO.

Eternal Sonata was NEVER announced by Namco as an Xbox 360 Exclusive game, so nothing was "lost."

Eternal Sonata is still going to be released MUCH earlier on the Xbox 360. Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell in Japan) may not even be a "Timed Exclusive" game. Eternal Sonata is likely just appearing so much earlier on the Xbox 360 because the Xbox 360 is so much easier to develop game for, which means the games are released much faster. Just look at the way games like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, F.E.A.R. Saints Row, and so many others are often released for the Xbox 360 first.

Kane & Lynch, along with Crossfire, were only listed as exclusives on the websites because the focus was on the Xbox 360 and PC versions. They weren't even official Timed Exclusives; they were just going to be like Saints Row and Enchanted Arms, where the Xbox 360 versions are released so much earlier that they "appear" to be exclusive, even though they aren't. Games like Lost Planet and Dead Rising are "official" Exclusive games.

The Xbox 360 still has FAR more Exclusive third-party support than the Playstation 3.

It is also worth remembering that third-party games released on both systems always end up with better graphics and more online features on the Xbox 360; that is why the Xbox 360 versions of the games are rated higher.

You fucking twat, have you ever heard of an install base?

The PS3 just virtually came out FFS! sheesh, all those games you explain have some problems on the PS3 but lesser ones on the 360 are understandable because they are PORTS... they have to be ports, the PS3 wasn't out for the initial release. So of course their going to port an already released game from the 360, to catch up.

Once time goes on, they'll start using PS3 Dev kits more & more frequently so that ports are no longer needed.

You are such an idiot, it is unbelievable.. seriously, its liek spoon feeding you ffs.
