Was this game worthy of a sequel then?

Not really, but the main criticism of the first was that it felt unfinished and had lots of padding in to flesh it out. Avalanche has had time to actually deliver its concept in this sequel, so chances are it will turn out much better.

But I am shit at predicting things.

jesus the graphics look fucking amazing. the smoke effects from explosions and rocket launcher looks incredible (unless they've been really touched up for the screenshots)

    Dear God-of-Games.

Please let gameplay be as good as pics look.

    Cheers,

    WANT!
I loved Just Cause even if it was a tad repetitive and this looks like it's shaping up to be a doozy!

The smoke effects on the rocket launcher look to have been touched up a little but everything else seems genuine (not that I have any experience in telling otherwise, heh).

I just bought the first game a few days ago but am yet to try it. The forum seemed to like it though and they thought it deserved a sequel...

true. the engine was sound in the first game. it did look amazing, it was just really empty. masses of space that required lot of travelling with little to sod all to do inbetween.

Just Cause had a lot of fun elements but was by far the buggiest game I have ever played, and that is not an exaggeration. It was a strange mix of beautiful vistas but repetitive gameplay and fun and frustration. I got a 1000 GP out of it which was hard work and there was a lot to appreciate in the game but by the time I finished I was bored stiff. If they can fill this world with stuff to do, reduce the repetition and tweak the graphics then should be very worthwhile indeed.

Wow, that looks rather prettier than the first one (which looked ace at times and dated at others).

Never quite got on with the first game. it had some great elements, but was way too repetative and had some quite poor interface issues.

"Just Cause had a lot of fun elements but was by far the buggiest game I have ever played, and that is not an exaggeration"

    Seconded.

Those saying Just Cause was the buggiest game ever clearly haven't played Boiling Point. Guess these huge sandbox games have so much more stuff that can go wrong programming wise.

Looks nice, but do some trees need another season to grow next-gen textures? There's just some things that never look just right rendered, and putting them next to something that looks "real" just make them stand out from the crowd like a nipple on american TV.
