I didn't especially like the first Just Cause, it felt way too big for no real reason other than to sound impressive on the back of the box and as such felt empty. Also most of the missions I tried were rubbish and the A.I. was poor. I was glad I was able to try the demo and play the game at my nephew's because I'd have been disappointed if I'd actually bought it.

From what I've seen of the sequel from E3 2009 it looks like it's going to be a huge improvement and I admit it does look a lot of fun with all the different moves and stuff. Looks more like a James Bond game than a James Bond game really. I hope this one turns out good.

I actually liked the auto-lock on the 360 version, and miss it on PC. Incidentally, I think the first one is still free on Gametap for PC, should you want to try it out.

Especially loved the huge map, though I have to admit it'd be nicer having more varied stuff to do. Liberating chunks of the islands in the first one was great fun though, I have high hopes for JC2.

I loved the first one. It was good fun if a little silly.

Been holding high hopes for the sequel since it was announced.

I just loved tramping around the island.
There wasn't much to discover but it was a lot of fun if you enjoyed sightseeing around the place. the first was a good game just to sit in front of and veg out too.

Was it the Eagle's Nest or something you could do the huge basejump from? That was great.

Just Cause was the buggiest game I have ever played but it was lots of fun. The side missions, AI, size of map etc. were all crappy but the core mechanics of the gameplay were good. It kind of reminds me of Crackdown; really fun to just go around blowing things up and grappling/jumping everywhere in a sandbox but the core missions were rather poor.

"One of the biggest complaints about the first Just Cause was the amount of traipsing around you had to do, covering large tracts of dull terrain between missions."

Speak for yourself! I love games with lots of travelling in them...

Sleeper hit of the year, I reckon.

Is Eurogamer TV going to put up the video of the demo Ellie describes? It's kick-ass.

The AI looks a bit suspect with enemies happy to stand and be grappleshot but overall this looks really interesting. I haven't played the first one but I'll be keeping an eye on this. It'll be interesting to see how they can keep up the variety over such a huge map with hundreds of [side] missions. That's a big ask for writers and mission designers.

This game just isn't doing it for me....

EG: "no one's ever pretended this is the series to go for if you want a gritty, authentic simulation of real-world military combat"

Oh... there you go.

I actually loved the size of the first one. Once you got the deployable gyro copter the distances did not mean too much and beside that there was fast travel between safe houses. It's true there was not much in the world but the actual landscaping was well done and I really did enjoy just flying around. The story missions were also Ok though the side missions were fairly dull standard deliver x car in a certain amount of time stuff.

Seeing as the first game was really a ported xbox game I really can not wait to see what these guys can do when they started development for this one on the 360.

I was watching the E3 demo for JC2 and I have to say that it looks like amazing fun. I never got around to playing the original JC although I did at least want to give it a test run, but this looks like an altogether far more polished and hilarious experience [grappling hook = lulz]. In the space of 10 consecutive minutes there was everything from blowing up an entire military base to grappling a bloke to a gas can and setting fire to it to standing on top of a speeding mini blowing the shit out of an army of jeeps to dogfighting in choppers to basejumping down a waterfall. Certainly one to look out for IMHO - my opinion of JC2 went from "meh" to "OMFG" in the space of about 4 mintues.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I played the hell out of the first one, despite crap vehicle handling, and lack of variety - but as with many people who gave the first one a chance, I knew the sequel would be something special. So far this looks to be the case.

But I wonder is there a limit on amount of tethers used - i.e. can I use the grapple to tether 10 bodies of enemies I've killed to my helicopter and fly around with a bunch of 'trophies'?

What happens if you tether two moving cars together that are driving in opposite directions?

Want this game.

Wonder where JC2 will fit in with the following - Mercenaries>Just Cause>Mercenaries 2.

Hope it's great. Also I preferred Mercs method of controlling helicopters to JC's - if they can nab that and be as good as the first Mercs game, then this is an instant buy for me.

This is a must buy for me, as i loved the first one. Despite it being full of bugs and glitches and being far from perfect, it was such fun to play- mostly due to the grapple gun and parachute/ gyrocopter. More please.

Exactly - what I really want to know is can you set up the grapple wire between two lamp posts across a road and behead passing motorcyclists?

If you could do that it would be officially amazing! This game does sound awesome all over. I thought the first JC was quite a lot of fun even if the AI was iffy at best! I do like a good sandbox...

You're getting chased across an airfield by some bad guys so what do you do? Grapple them to a passing plane, that's what!

Well apparently the tethering is pretty freeform. The dev doing the E3 demo video said that you can tether a jeep to a chopper and used it as a wrecking ball :p

Missions aside I really enjoyed the first one, but this looks better in all departments. Just hope success doesn't depend on over use of the grapple.

So, out of all the crappy game names you decide to single out Just Cause? At least it has relevance to what the character is doing and why...

"Just Cause 2 is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year."

In the end of the uploaded video in the preview or something with the base gameplay that was nice and thorough, and grats for it in the other article, it says that's coming out in 2010..

Unfortunately, i dont like this kind of gaming.. Pleasant and nice, agree looks great in many ways but I dont tend to wanna play more than a couple of times cause i get lazy to the fact the onlything extra I might see is more guns, and i love progress and developement in a game's scenarion/skills etc. More than dif weapons anyways... Hope i made my point ^^. At least in FPS games you see more scenarion than missions, dif enviroment plus the fact it needs some more skill and its the only reason why I put up with FPS ( and love them ) as a genre.
