Jimi Hendrix Rock Band spin-off denied

Harmonix "in discussions" about his music.

MTV has reportedly denied that a Jimi Hendrix version of Rock Band is in the works.

"While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band, we are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring more of his music to our platform," a spokesperson told Kotaku.

However, the site was also told that did not include a standalone game.

Earlier this week the LA Times reported comments made by Hendrix' stepsister Janie, who controls his estate, that the guitarist's music would be "available through every type of media" and that Janie had said this included a new version of Rock Band due out before the end of the year.

That could potentially bring an end to the plastic music game genre through its awesomeness, nothing would be able to top that!

I used to hate these games, but Beatles Rock band has slightly turned me, and I've spent many a long evening trying to learn proper hendrix on my guitar, I'd love to be able to warble his catalogue out. I think they should bring out a new guitar with eight or nine buttons though so that people realise just how good he was.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm totally sick of Guitar Hero, Rockband et al now. Full now thanks.
    Talk about oversaturation.

BRING US MORE BEATLES DLC FIRST!

Rock Band have done things right so far (unlike GH), peppering their store with new and varied DLC as opposed to constant stand alone discs

A separate title based on Hendrix would definitely be of more interest than Green Day or Beatles for that matter. That might put the 'rock' back into RB. Can't complain about Rust in Peace, though - that is some awesome DLC.
