iPhone dominates IGF Mobile field

Fieldrunners and Edge up for best game.

Games for the iPhone and iPod Touch dominate the list of finalists in the Independent Games Festival Mobile rundown announced yesterday.

Fieldrunners, Edge and Smiles contest the best game category with Flash Lite game Cubic Republic and DS effort Wardive, while the art and audio categories are entirely comprised of iPhone/touch games and there are only three non-iPhone entries across the innovation and technical achievement categories.

That said, you'd expect iPhone games to do well in the "Best iPhone Game" category, which is sponsored by ngmoco. There Fieldrunners and Edge do battle with Dizzy Bee, Zen Bound and Frenzic.

Winners will be announced on 25th March along with the finalists in the PC-and-console categories. See below for the full list of nominees and pop over to the IGF Mobile site to read descriptions and find links.

(We particularly like the sound of Zen Bound - "a calm and meditative game of wrapping rope around wooden sculptures".)
