Infinity Ward HR rep joins Respawn

15 followed co-founders to new company.

Kristin Cotterell, formerly Human Resources Manager and Recruiter at Infinity Ward, has now signed on as the Human Resources and Recruitment Manager at Respawn Entertainment.

Cotterell, who announced her new employer via her LinkedIn profile, previously revealed she was leaving Infinity Ward last week, just as many of her former co-workers were filing a royalty lawsuit against Activision.

She is the fifteenth former Infinity Ward employee to publicly follow Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella to their new venture at Respawn, and should be instrumental in helping the new company recruit even more talent.

Do we really need little updates like this?
  • MisterBee #2 2 years ago

I've heard the cleaning lady is joining them next week!
  • stuarty_2003 #3 2 years ago

Surely it's getting close to simply stating: 'Infinity Ward joins Respawn'
  • Fab4 #4 2 years ago

    Ofc we don't.

As a side note, how fucking easy is her job going to be?

    Monday 9:00AM
    1. Call all remaining IW employees to see if they want a new job.
    2. Send them out their contracts.
    3. Have Lunch
    4. Go Home

    Tuesday 9:00AM
    4. Fuck off to the Bahamas for the rest of the Year.

So if your any good you join spawn? Where's bowling?

When your human resources/recruitment rep leaves your company you should worry.

When they immediately defect to your competitor (who also happens to be hiring all your other former employees) I would imagine the alarm bells get pretty deafening - especially when your biggest asset is your employees.

It also speaks volumes about Activisions claims that staff were being treated poorly by IW and denied bonuses that they are still so keen to leave. Could they be fibbing ?!!
  • Golgo #7 2 years ago

As if Activison could give a shit. Why pay a primadonna dev team to update COD:MWx, when you can get some jobbing team to re-skin it every 24 months and still sell bucketloads?
  • TeaFiend #8 2 years ago

I swear this happened last week.

I think I also made a joke about a tea lady saying "Go on, go on, go on."

    Awesome news KYLE!
  • Chufty #10 2 years ago

Are the 15 all part of the 22 employees who left 2015 to form Infinity Ward in the first place?

Sounds like they're a bunch of cocks to me.
  • telboy007 #11 2 years ago

This has gone too far now. Sounds like a really good way to get out of a signed contract with a publishing company, they didn't like not having full control over every little thing had a big strop about it. Then worked out a way to get themselves sacked, and the rest of them move over while trying to sue for money to make it look like they're the affected party.

    Pft.

Edit: Chufty, you got in there before me! :)

I like that Bobby Cocktick is getting what he deservers. Looks like he succeeded in taking the fun out of game development for Infinity Ward.

What I don't understand if Activision are that bad why would Bungie do a deal with them and relinquish all creative control over their product? If it's purley about revenue then Halo Reach will probably be Bungie's swan song.

    Money.

    It's that simple.
  • aliki #15 2 years ago

So just where did you read that Bungie was giving up all creative control over their products?

The Bungie deal is for Activision to publish the games from a single new IP. The IP will still be owned by Bungie and they will remain independant.
  • geeza2020 #16 2 years ago

a single new IP that spans over a decade of releases and development. Activision: cha-ching $$$
  • oreillymj #17 2 years ago

Seems like Respawn haven't had too many problems hiring people without a HR dept.

Interview Question 1. Do you currently work for Infinity Ward? Answer: Yes

Interviewer: Great, when can you start?
  • Spekingur #18 2 years ago

@Golgo: because this "primadonna" dev team did a pretty good job of it.
  • icematt12 #19 2 years ago

Whats this in a rough percentage that have killed their IW career and respawned?
  • Findus #20 2 years ago

At this rate Robert Bowlng and the cleaning staff is all that's going to be left and I know which would be more beneficial to Respawn
  • sneetch #21 2 years ago

They should have just changed the sign outside of Infinity Ward's offices, it would have saved everyone a lot of trouble. ;)

And if the next one is shit, do you really think the fickle masses will buy the one after that? Or will they move on to the next big franchise?
  • Fab4 #23 2 years ago

"And if the next one is shit, do you really think the fickle masses will buy the one after that? Or will they move on to the next big franchise?"

The 'fickle masses' are mostly parents buying games for their kids. And those very same kids are easily swayed by glossy marketing...something Activision do very well, so yeah, it could be absolute dog-shit (just like MW2) and people will still buy it.
  • Zomoniac #24 2 years ago

especially when your biggest asset is your employees

Bollocks, the biggest asset is the brand name. Harmonix leaving and Guitar Hero going to shit after 2 didn't stop them selling. The odd-numbered shit CoD games still sell 7 figures. Activision couldn't give a toss, as long as they keep hold of the name.
  • Golgo #25 2 years ago

@Sneech: yes, I think the "fickle masses" will continue buying anything that has COD on the box.
  • Camilitus #26 2 years ago

£11 for three new maps + 2 maps I effectively already own. No thanks. I will not support and company that shafts its employees, undervalues creativity and is lead by a CEO who said that he has tried to instill into the company culture "skepticism, pessimism, and fear" of the global economic downturn, adding, "We are very good at keeping people focused on the deep depression." - I guess by not paying them. They have managed to kill a golden goose in COD. Lets see if they can kill off WOW and complete the suicide. Good Luck Respawn.
  • paketep #27 2 years ago

@Findus: I would take ANY cleaning lady before Bowling as Community Manager, any day of the week.
  • jambo74 #28 2 years ago

    Getting old now....
  • jambo74 #29 2 years ago

Looking forward to 'The Call of Duty'
  • actionfitz #30 2 years ago

would be hilarious if she was able to poach the top talent from Treyarch :D
  • actionfitz #31 2 years ago

    @Nephirion

    £££££££££££££
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$

    that's why.
