Good job, Eurogamer.

You actually did your job. You made me come here, read half the review, click page 2, read "Gears of War", stop reading the review, start reading the comments, and finally making me register for this shitty-ass site.

You are very welcome for those +10 hits I just gave you. I have no idea whatsoever why this game was compared to Gears of War (actually - the only idea and theory from me and everyone else who has mentioned the Gears of War comparison points to hatred for the PS3).

So I hope you look through your huge database and see my name some day with post count: 1 and a last login: May 21, 2009 because this is the last and ONLY time I take a look at this shitty-ass site.

@ Rodchenko

For someone who feels the need to use a comments section of a totally unrelated game to fire off yet another instance of good old Halo 3 wanking, your patronizing remarks on your fellow posters' 'inaneness' seem a bit unfitting, imo. You know, you are free to leave this place anytime you feel your high horse surrounded by 'imbeciles'...?

Dude, that’s . . . that's a bit harsh! I know it’s just your opinion, but still, can you cut me some slack?

I didn’t bring up Halo 3 in a totally unrelated fashion, much less ‘wank’ over it, and I haven't been acting like an ass.. I was having an engaging conversation with an earlier poster who was musing that they didn’t enjoy Halo any more than other games which hadn’t scored as well. We were having a back-and-forth conversation! It was nice!

And regarding imbeciles, well . . there’s been a goodly number of them around these parts lately. C’mon, you’ve gotta at least give me that one! ; )

Why is Eurogamer reviewing a PS3 Exclusive title???
The Eurogamer® Network Ltd.belongs to an American company by the name of Microsoft and I find anti-ethic to say the list Microsoft reviewing their competitor's product.
Metacritic http://www.metacritic.com/games/platform... has got inFAMOUS averaging 88 base on 17 reviews so far and Microsoft owned The Eurogamer® Network Ltd. giving inFAMOUS score 70 when the second worse is 80 just shows how pathetic this Corporation has become.

@pha,

Yes, it's true. Some random fucktard just made it up and posted it on a forum, which of course makes it true straight away.

I'm not sure what's more of a concern though. That you'd pretty much believe it, just like that.... or even if it was true you'd automatically assume bias against the PS3.

And just to set your mind at rest, EG scores PS3 games equally well or badly as 360 games. Fact.

ridiculous
i mean 7/10 is a good score, but considering how much the other games have been getting it's just not fair
the missions r a bit repetitive but not as nearly as much as in assassins creed, 9/10 at least.
everything else is gr8 and the absence of weapons is GREAT,cuz its focused on electricity
and considering that they review everything on 360...
just not fair

I played a game that Eurogamer scored 2/10 and if you ignore all the problems, I am enjoying it... so you shouldnt always take the scores as gospel, which obviously some people do. So EG score it 7, and others have scored it an 8 or 9. To me this would suggest that on the whole its a solid game but depending on the type of gamer you are you will find it between those numbers.

Enjoyed the demo a lot more than I thought I would. I'm still not sold on the aesthetics, but the game itself was fun. Reminded me a little of Crackdown, only slicker and with better controls. It seems to lack the flexibility and variety of that game, though.

Maybe not a day 1, but I'll certainly be picking this up at some point.

Christ on a bike kids. The review tells you someones opinion of a game. Just because you might have liked it to be higher doesn't mean that you cannot like the game yourselves.

It is not like the PS3 is lacking quality exclusives. Find something important to get up in arms about. Sheesh !

@maxnormal,

Indeed. Personally, I loved Assassin's Creed, yet that game scored 7/10 here. And I can understand why the reviewer scored it thus, as there was a lot fo repetition. However, I didn't sit and play it in a single session, but rather an hour or two a day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The graphics, music, story, atmosphere, chanracter progression, everything. One of my favourite games of this generation.

Played through inFamous myself and i share the same opinion as Tom. I don't want to go as far as saying the other reviewers only played the demo (because it only shows the really cool stuff you experience in inFamous..), but having to go through the same missions over and over again because inFamous only has like 5 missiontypes, is not what i expect from a 9..

I loved inFamous at the beginning , was totally hyped from all the cool stuff you could do. But the problem is: This cool stuff won't last forever. Its like dating your new girlfriend. First everything feels fresh, exciting. You do this, do that, its awesome. Then after some weeks/months all the "exiting things" become normal. And in the end you get rid of her because she bores you...inFamous!

P.S. i love my ps3, just for the record! :p

I'm going to try the demo(haven't got round to it), but you can't base the whole game experience on that. That is a selected piece of the game designed to make it awesome, the real game may take hours of repetition to get to that demo point. Look at assasins creed a demo of one of the hits would certainly not convey how repetitive that got, a game which I enjoy hugely.

you're all forgetting that unless it's another generic 3rd party cross platform game that runs slightly better on 360... EG can't give it more than 7... you should all know that by now.

Perhaps that's a little harsh... EG score things pretty well if you ask me but...

Like most of the press, it seems to me that EG reviewers are invested in the whole Achievement / 360 Friends (community) thing and because of this there's an emotional attachment to the 360.

This makes playing anything on PS3 an exercise in protecting that emotional investment by looking for the things they don't like... It's a natural human instinct that IMO has a subtle effect on how reviewer approach game on the PS3.

Likewise, there are those who have invested in PS3 that can't see that the 360 version DOES look and run better ;-)

Personally, I like games on both systems but there's definatley a feeling in me that there's a distorted view within the industry of PS3... and I think it's got something to do with the 1 year's worth of emotional investment the gamers (within the industry) have invested before the PS3 even came out (especially in light of all the hardware problems 360 had/has).

Then again, I keep thinking to myself... bah... who care's... why am I writing this... iPhone and Wii will kill gaming as we know it anyway.

:-)

360: But what about us?
Tom: We'll always have Halo.
360: And I said I would never leave you.
Tom: And you never will. But I've got a job to do too. Where I'm going you can't follow. What I've got to do you can't be any part of.

360's lights swell up with RRoD. Tom puts his hands on its controller and raises it to meet his face.

Tom: Here's looking at you, console.

@onlyxbox,

While I see what you're trying to say (and in a far better thought out and presented way than other here), I'd just like to quote an earlier post of mine again:

As for all of the fantards saying "EG is teh biased against PS3", I just did a quick spreadsheet taking the top 25 rated exclusives for both PS3 and 360 (excluding arcade-type titles but including those that were console exclusive at the time of release) and matched them against the Metacritic scores.

On average, PS3 titles score 4.84 points lower here at EG than the Metacritic scores.

So EG clearly hates PS3!

On average, 360 titles score 4.56 points lower here at EG than the Metacritic scores.

So EG clearly hates 360!

I've always wondered where the whole impression that EG looks unfavourably on PS3 titles comes from, and the facts do nothing to dissuade me from that.

All I can assume is that there is a very vocal minority of Playtards here that are so invested in their preferred product that they just cannot accept the scoring system in place, instead preferring to believe in bias. As we don't get the same complaints about 360 reviews, there must be another site where the rabid Xbots go to vent their anger and scream "GamesiteX hates XBox!!!"

Surely that can be said of anything after a while and therefore would relate to all games? I agree that AC (for example) was repetitive but I never got bored of it. I think I have more staying power than most though... especially when it involves shankin' innocent people. >:)Anyway, I've downloaded the demo and will install it tonight to give it a spin. @M_of_the_sys: It for sure has the same problems as Assassin's Creed when it comes to repetitve gameplay aspects :) And yeah, if you look it from that angle, you could say it about nearly every game. Diablo II for example. But in the end it comes down to "can i still have much fun doing the same stuff over and over again"? In inFamous its a 50/50-situation.

I for example loved it in the beginning, when it still felt fresh, exciting etc. But after a while it put me through the same missiontypes over and over again. Destroy cameras across a building. follow a courier etc. And its not like you experience them just once or twice while you discover the 3 city-parts. You have to do them like at least 2 times in the first part of it.

Btw: You can shake a lot of people in inFamous, you can even suck them dry :p Will be your type of a game i guess :)

It's funny you should say that, because Richard Leadbetter over at DF seem to think the opposite:

despite minor issues and an initially uncompelling series of missions, the game manages to transform radically within a few hours of play and proved compelling enough for me to sit glued to the PS3 until it was completed

Can I ask if you've completed it yet? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm considering buying the game at some point so I'd like to know what to expect. AC was far too repetitive for my liking, and GTA IV just about the right balance (for such a large game).

It has the best hdr lightning ever for a sandbox game you have ever seen, and if u dont know, real time lightning consumes a lot of requirements, so it is obvious that it must a liitle bit worse on other areas.
