Indie MMO Love gets release date

Official launch in March.

One-man MMO developer Eskil Steenberg has announced that he'll launch his labour of love, appropriately called Love, on 25th March.

Steenberg made the announcement on his Twitter, casually mentioning that "Love has a release date: 25th of March" before getting back to tweeting about bug fixes and updates.

In the PC game, players collaborate to build settlements and combat artificial intelligences on procedurally-generated maps, all rendered in a beautiful, impressionistic art style.

Sounds much better than Wuv. That just confused and enraged me.

Fantastic, am intrigued by this game. Smart chap, that Eskil. Real smart. Almost ... TOO smart.

I paid the £3 for the beta month on the strength of the EG hands on - I stopped playing after 2 hours of confusion - I'll try most off the wall games and often enjoy them, but this struck me as a lot of lazy gamescraft promoted as very "indie". The game is just unsufferably shabby.

Even if it's shabby, I find it hard to knock a one man MMO, credit where credit is due for effort at least.

The title certainly is well-chosen, makes you wonder what an mmo about love truly would be like... now if you called it romance, that would be clear, it's a well-defined 'grind' ;)

Never heard of this game before but fair play to him. A one man MMO.WOW I hope it turns out well for him(get it, he he sry couldn't help myself).

Maybe I will give it a go some day. But the comment about the game being shabby puts me off.

Damn, thought this was going to be an Indiana Jones MMO.

I don't think I've ever been in a beta that I didn't think was shabby. The premise for the game is great and the ability to destroy/create your environment is very well thought out.

I think the main draw of this game is that it's the first MMO in years that is genuinely different. There have been so many in recent years that are essentially "Everquest reskinned" that I'm finding myself growing bored of the whole MMO genre so a project like this is something I'd love to see do well.
