id hints at Quake DS game
Not announcing it, though.
id Software's John Carmack says he would really like to do a "Quake Arena-themed game on the DS".
Admitting that he's a huge fan of Metroid Prime Hunters' control system, the developer - who earlier told QuakeCon attendees about a two-week holiday in a hotel working with the DS dev-kit - said Quake for DS would probably be "the next DS game"
"I'm pretty sure I'm going to make that one happen," he said, although nothing's been signed yet.
"My early inclination on this is to build a game that is definitely Quake Arena-themed... but leave it more or less Doom 2 style deathmatch with two-and-a-half-D," he said of its potential content.

Sorry, a good idea? from id? From John Carmack?
Did I just fall into some dimensional rift where this sort of fucked-up shit happens?

for those with the homebrew carts.

Yeah, but this could finally be a quake game designed specifically for the DS hardware and not just squeezed and shoehorned into it. Would love to see a revamped version of the first one, always liked the mixture of fantasy and scifi there

OMG! Do you know important this statement is. This is a serious win for Nintendo! One of the Kings of FPS commending control system. Wow.... just wow.

I hope Nintendos next handheld keeps to the DS formula only with better 3D. If they want to throw in some larger screens too you won't hear me complaining.

They have nothing similar. Metroid Primes control-system was fairly decent to say, but it truly was not so enjoyable on a long run.
Yes it is pretty good for handheld consoles, but I for one cant enjoy it any more than I can for analog-nub cos it just isnt comfortable. (unless you have that three hands that someone mentioned)
