7 million sales maybe - 7 million current subscribers I think not..

i'll bet they will go console very very soon.

I agree with Psi. I only activated my account this week and I'm sick of the grind already. Less of it would be nice.

The grind is what keeps you going in MMORPG...it's what makes people with no life who play it so much "better".

Usually the only people that complain about the grind are the ones that, ironically, play these massively multiplayer games almost completely solo :/

What is the point of GamesIndustry.biz? This interview is on that site too......and it's not the first such article to be on both websites.......

Sorry, I didn't read the article. Is it 6 million paying players or 6 million registrations? I tried for a 10-day trial and didn't like the game. Just another MMORPG tbh.

i love how your ability to knock the crap outta people as a merlock depends totally on your postcode..

@tachikoma: Not sure - from TFA "After all, the number of WOW subscribers is already huge ("We're over 6.5 million and just shy of seven million"), and still growing."

I presume he means "active" subscribers, or it's a bit of a twisting of the word. It's certainly not inconceivable that's it's 6 million, when you take into account Asia

They had a thing about WOW on the local news yesterday, saying that Blizzard are making $40 million per MONTH from subscriptions alone. It's absolutely astonishing, everyone that works for Blizzard should be a multi-millionaire by now.

CitizenGeek: There's a lot of stuff that doesn't make it over from GI to EG... we only take a few key interviews and comment pieces which we feel have crossover appeal to gamers as well as the industry. All the boring financial stuff stays on GI!

I really enjoyed playing WoW...for the first year or so. Once I stopped playing alternate characters and leveled one to 60 though, the faction grinding and 3-4 hour instance runs ate up all my free time. "Sorry honey, would love to watch that movie with you, but I'm in an instance." "Sorry guys, you'll have to either wait 10 minutes or die...my baby needs a diaper change."

The WoW endgame just isn't compatible for people with any social obligations whatsoever. And those social obligations are sort of what make life worth living. So...yeah. As much as I'd love to play the expansion, I don't see it happening.

Here's a thought....would MS or Sony want WOW on their consoles?

I'm thinking in terms of how many Live users would start playing and stop playing any other games...therefore stop buying any other games.

This has happened to me, tbh the only game I play on PC is WOW,i just don't have time to play any other pc games...what with my pretty active Live account as well, there's only so much gaming one geek can do!

I seriously think WOW on xbox360 would do big damage to all other 360 games, just because of the nature of the game.

Can't see why you would want to have WoW on a console.

Blizzard only counts active subscribers in their numbers, so the amount of sold units should be higher.
