The only trouble with the big N is that they show all these games, but they always seem to be delayed for months on end. When they eventually come out the machine sales have suffered as people give up waiting. Moving on to something else instead. 2 years ago at E3 they showed Zelda for Cube said out 2004 still its not out.

Its no good having a launch of a machine when all good games are months away.

He says Mario within 1st 6mths of system launch, whos betting E3 2007 it still not out, but they have improved it and heres a new trailer, but we can't show much as people might copy.

In the meantime PS3 has had 3 crash games 3 ratchett games 3 daxter games and some new franchises.

Speed up the bloody games releases already!!!

I fear if they do not have good launch titles and the new wave takes too long then people will just move on to the PS3 or 360. People would rather have more choice than no choice.

Well I think if you look at the technology that's out there and the companies that Nintendo has partnerships with when creating the system, obviously if we had decided to create an HD system we could have very easily.

'bout time they said it. Hope that'll shut people up who like to think Nintendo takes their primary focus off graphics because they somehow can't keep up. THE NEXT SEGA LOL AMIRITE

480p aint a big deal, it's still 640x480 and will look great on plasmas with a decent scaler.

The only HD content is subscription based in the uk and just starting to roll out. I don't think anyone here in the office has a HD ready screen. Thats an office of IT Geeks that collect toys like that.

May be more of an issue over in the states where content is more availible. I've seen the xbox360 on hidef and it looks great no doubt. But by the looks of things the nintys gonna hit the shelves in the uk around £150 mark. Thats snes prices back in the day!

I for one welcome our new nintendo overlords.

Indeed.

Its not as if Nintendo are the only delay monkeys in the games world. At least Nintendo stuff is good when it finally turns up. For me thats way better than having 3 crap games right now.

@ Petebritish:

I don't think that will be a big problem this time around. Why, you ask? Because of the Virtual Console of course :)

I see nothing here that even vaguely interests me.

I am sure I will probably end up buying a wii, - i have a gamecube along with everything else :) but I just despair of nintendo actually releasing something which plays to the audience I am in.

And I just DO NOT GET the mario fixation.

Ah well

Dear Eurogamer.

Please get your web team to check their stock graphics. There is no console called 'Revolution'. I think you may be confused.

The mario fixation comes about because mario platformers tend to be the best in the genre. Even when they're not so good (sunshine) they're still better than most!

When a "proper" mario game comes along, you KNOW its going to be good!

(Well I've yet to be disapointed anyhow).

Yes they COULD have made a HD system, and gone head to head with Sony and MS. But look how that's turned out for them. The decision to go in a different direction was as much forced on Nintendo as it was them "wanting to reinvent gaming". By trying to directly take on Sony, and then MS, they've seen dwindling console sales each generation. If the trend was to continue then Ninty would be in a heap of trouble, so they needed to try something different. Also bear in mind that Nintendo have a policy to always make a profit on console hardware, perhaps because they don't have as big pockets as Sony or MS, which would mean that had they decided to make a HD console it wouldn't have been as powerful as the PS3 or 360 because they both cost more to make than what they sell for.

Nintendo have Billions of dollars in cash reserves. Sony are in heavy debt, everything they do is based on borrowing other peoples money. Very risky business for them, if PS3 falls flat; Sony is then unfortunately in very big trouble since it is also the only profitable part of any of their businesses.

And with the heavy losses that they will have to take on PS3 hardware sales, even with them charging ridiculously high prices for both SKU's; their hardware won't be making a profit for them for a VERY long time. So that leaves them with trying to make money off the software end, but with their hardware prices being so high, it's gonna be a long time before casuals (and where Sony's market and profits actually lie) even think about getting a PS3.
Sony will have to make as much use of their upcoming PS2 library as possible to keep the casuals who aren't able to afford a PS3 on their side else risk loosing them to MS and Nintendo, which has now become a distinct possibility due to the PS3's ridiculously high prices.
