Most demos I've played on the 360 have put me off buying the game but Lost Planet is one of the rare ones that had the opposite effect. I'll definitely be getting it at some point.

Yup really enjoyed the demo too. Interesting that he says Japanese gamers found the demo a little hard and Western gamers found it a little easier. Anyhew looking forward to the EG review closer to the release date.

Great! An informative, interesting interview. The stuff about how developers work - even huge ones like Capcom - these days was revealing.
I wouldn't be surprised, given his comments, to find all platform 'exclusives' being ported to all other capable platforms after the 'exclusive' time period ends - it seems developing for these 'next-gen' is a cost-heavy, lengthy process and these companies need to recoup as much cost as possible.

I really liked the demo of Lost Planet, and was very impressed by it at times, expecially with some of the design choices, like the way the snow trackes worked, and the explosions of course!

I'm sorry to see such a late release date for it, but in the mean-time I guess we'll have Dead Rising to play - another game I'm really quite excited about.

I want both these games. Lost Planet was excellent and looked fantastic. Dead Rising looks a little short lived perhaps but a LOT of fun.. which is what gaming is all about for me :)

Me mate & me played this last weekend and although everything was solid, it missed somehing imo. But then again, everybody his own taste. But there is definitly potential.

I think the AI for the smaller bugs at this point in time is nowhere near aggressive enough, and the game feels sort of shallow, but it looks, sounds, and controls pretty great. I wish they'd make it possible to do double shots etc. with your grappling hook, have vaguely Spiderman-esque elements etc.

Shooting the legs off that boss bug in the warehouse has to be one of my fave gaming moments in recent times. When you shoot them both off, its great the way he flops around, still vainly trying to get you.
Superb demo.

I thought the demo was quite hard. at least, the bosses were. Pretty easy up to that point, but the bosses really kicked my arse. Took a good few tries before I go the better of them.

This game is about big guns, running and gunning, big explosions, zipping around the place, getting in Mechs, and busting the place up right? If it's fun (and I thought it was) who cares!?

PS when you do get in a mech - boy it goes OFF!!

I'm quite looking forward to Lost Planet. My first few plays of the demo really didn't grab me but when I returned to it couple of days later it really started to click with me.

Thank you Captain Irrelevant!

As for Lost Planet, the rolling demo did nothing for me at all but I guess I'll have to try the playable one. Sure looks pretty though.

Ive heard from some people whove played the demo that it's possible to use the grapple on enemies to pull yourself towards them, if you time it right you can plant a grenade in them and backflip off them and kaboom... sounds great to me, I hope they play around with that more if true.

I found the demo hard, and I really dislike the way the aiming reticle moves out of the centre of the screen. I feel the same way about other games that do the same thing (e.g. Timesplitters). It feels really wrong, as wrong as when the invert-Y option is wrong. If they can make the roaming reticle an option to be disabled in the final version, I will be very happy.

Kiigan, I agree with the roaming reticule thing. Timesplitters had it, GRAW has it (to a certain extent) and a few others. It always bothers me too. I hope they just get rid of it. iirc though I seem to think that once you got in the mech it wasn't there anymore? - Will have to play again and check when I get in, oh bugger it, I may as well just play TT.

I rather enjoyed the demo, a few combat issues but the atmosphere was very nice. Stomping about in snopw has never been so much fun.

And when I found you could remove mech weapons and wander about with them... I fhought the two rolling bugs on foot with a mech shotgun and had a fine old time.

Didn't finish either demo map though, was there a mid-level save option I was missing? Dying and going back to the start sucks, its not the bloody 80s you know. Hope that was just the demo.

Was really looking forward to this title but found the demos utterly disappointing. Imo the scenery was bleak to the point of being bland and disinteresting, and I also found the AI atrocious (I didn't have to move to avoid the bugs in the car park, just stand still and shoot, and when I faced the snow pirates I just zipped to the top of a building where I used the rocket launcher to destroy the mechs, the snow pirates themselves just looked up at me while I shot them one by one).

Now, the question is, is the demo a realistic example of the final titles' gameplay, or is it literally just a "here's what we've done so far..."? It will need to improve a great deal before I spend 50 hard-earned pounds on it.

I thought the demo was pretty cool but it better be nowhere near finished - as other peeps have said, the AI was pathetic, and the pop-up and clipping was pretty bad - should be pretty cool though once its FINISHED... I hope.

I thought the cinematic feal to the thing was amazing when the mobs came for you. And the boss set piece in hanger was fantastic.
