The biggest problem the game has is the incredible lag during large battles. Some people get stuck for *days* in the same system if its being fought over by the big alliances, unable to move.

Had to cancel my sub. Game was sucking so much time that my gf nearly dumped me.

Might pop back in once Kali is in full swing. I can control it this time.

Great game, but unless you know a lot about Eve i htink it won't make a huge amount of sense.

It is an awesome game though.

It's one of those awesome games which unfortunately bore my socks off. Good on 'em though, they have a great philosophy and buckets of talent.

i got raped 1 too many time in that game.

the people who started 2/3 years ago have an unstoppable lead

they say we should fear 0.0 space and newer players do

older players kill at will and laugh doing it

they want you to explore 0.0 but you zone into a low sec area and are gate sniped by bored pirates

i admire the goals of EVE but after playing it for several months and repeatedly getting all my hard work undone buy some fuckwit on a whim I have no love for it

i played NC on the pvp server, there was risk, you could lose your most valued items in seconds but there was a sense of balance, you could get your revenge or return the favour

new people in EVE are expected to take it and ask for more

I tried it too but didn't really fall in to a group of players or clan. I think if you find the right clan then its a much easier game to learn and have fun with. I think the majority of gamers are pleased with the continual success of Eve, as it is not afraid to plough its own path where other big mmo's don't tread.

Wonder if they'll ever do the landing on planets thing.

yeah you really need an established corp before you can venture into 0.0 (preferably one that is part of a large 0.0 alliance). Unfortunately said corps are usualy ultra paranoid about spies and wont take characters who dont have a few months on them, by which time you are bored of doing missions in the same high sec systems and leave the game :(

That said, my mate is in one of those, and ive watched him play some of the large fleet battles, and all i can say is it looked friggin awsome, and almost tempted me back to play again.

Dear god, a PlanetSide-esque addition would rock so hard for that game.

they could make it the best game ever if they replaced drones and smaller ships with x-wing/elite/freelancer type fighters and allowed people to play as fighter pilots selling their skills to the larger ships

then add planets and do a sort of planetside/bf2 thing down there

so players could start out being a ground troop or a fighter while learning the more complex aspects of fleet combat, trade and politics and then take the step up

This is one of those games that I really want to like...
Pros: Player run economy, freedom of ship configuration, exciting pvp combat, emphasis on group play, politics.
Cons: Mining is super boring and unfortunately necessary for most groups to obtain wealth, missions from npcs are boring and repetitive, lack of narrative or interactive storyline (wow also suffers from this problem to some extent), locales are pretty but mostly noninteractive and lack variety, picking an efficient skill training route also means you can expect a lot of downtime for the first couple months.

Has to be the dullest MMO I've ever had the misfortune to play. I have no idea why people are still playing it, CCP are a bunch of incompetent tossers who have no idea how to run a MMO

Its a marmite game, thats for sure. Get in with a good bunch in a corp and it is a fantastic game that completly grabs you. Pootle about on your own and it can indeed be dull. As for CCP being incompetant and having no idea how to run a MMO, I would say that is bullshit IMO.
In no other MMO have I seen the devs being so involved with the community, listening to what their customers want. As far as problems, sure, any MMO has em. Having 25k users on concurrently is undoubtedly going to cause a certain degree of lag in some nodes.

Souljah, eve has had lag problems since beta, and lag during large combat has been a problem for 4 years and still not been alleviated to any great deal.

So, a pretty much PVP only game where they boast about having 25k users online, and if you fight a large battle the game grinds to a halt.

Genious!

@souljah : Maybe CCP have got better, I played the game for about 2 months shortly after the retail version came out, it was immediately apparent that they had never done anything remotely similar to a MMO before and had little/no idea about what the hell they were doing. Planned database outages for 2-3hrs every day + numerous management problems of the online world were some of their most major problems

The only reason I stuck about for 2 months was the people in the corp were pretty funny and kept promising it'd pick up and turn interesting at some point.

Modular technology? Incremental updates? Smaller, more frequent releases of otherwise enormous projects?

We've seen this somewhere else...

As for the game itself, I'm back to pining again. Damn you, Rossignol!

yeah i pirate in eve been playing it for about a year tis a good game once you get into it. but 3 months just training the basic skills is really offputting for new players.

also the pve/missions content is utter gash.
though those that played at retail its very very different now, worth a second chance.

To the various peopel who bitch about gettin gate snipd in this game. You morons should not be in 0.0 space by yourself. No one, not even the pirates travel alone. To say they are unstoppable is silly. I joined a pirate corp for a while and saw just how many ships they lose. Have you people considered that you may just be shit at this game? Make some friends, form some alliances and move in packs. You wouldnt go into a end game instance in WoW by yourself. Dont go to 0.0 by yourself muppets :s
However as much as ive winged at people there. You did all have the forsight to play this awsome game and if you reached 0.0 you must have given it a resonable go so you are to be commended. Respect.

jimmyjimbob. Your an arse. if I saw you in the street id kick you. Go back to Fifa 07 coz its all you deserve.
