A game where you unlock music by 50 cent, and a good game, these things are mutually exclusive. Fact. Mathematically impossible.

The garbage these two guys are speaking in this interview makes me want to puke!

If 50 was purely a videogame character, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing. It's just the fact he really exists, and this game is his own enflated ego fantasy of himself.

That makes me wonder, has there ever been a good game that stars a real life person/personality?

That's debatable. If it is symptomatic of the industry these days, we can expect less games for gamers and more interactive celebrity tie-ins.

Well, its the 'me-too' games that are harming me by stifling creativity and 'dumbing to the masses'. Developers seem to be getting more risk adverse and more keen to play it safe with a 'games by numbers' aproach.

Is this one of those games? I don't know til I play it but I wont hold my breath........

The irrational hatred is because in my opinion it's a pointless, self indulgent waste of time.

I don't want to play as some talentless "poet" who's whole life style does nothing but glorify acting like a twat! In games I want to play as someone with something genuinley cool about them. Fictional characters are far more capable of inspiring enjoyment than this overrated dick!!

Not only that, but taking someone who builds their whole reputation and image on breaking the law in one way or another and putting them in a game where said character can pretty much shoot and kill whoever he wants, is overtly ridiculous. It pretty much condones his (blatantly unacceptble) life style choices and opinions. That's just wrong.

At least when fictional characters take similar actions in games it's not excusing any particular real life person of the same behaviour.

About ethnicity in games, Turok and the recent Gun which feature American Indian natives as lead characters. All Spawn videogames have a black man as main character, obviously because Spawn is black. And Shadow of Rome has black and afro-mediterranian characters as well. And there are thousands of games with Japanese lead characters and nobody says a word about anything.

And one of the best selling, best quality games in history (San Andreas) features a black protagonist in a mainly black environment.

So please... think before you write.

Correct me if I'm wrong "qualified", but has it not been stated many times over that he has been shot several times?

Has it not also been widley publicised that gun trouble seems to follow him around:- For instance at the party after the premiere of his (appalling looking) film, was someone not shot dead????

I refuse to believe that this man has not weilded a gun in real life.

And besides, all the examples you listed were fictional. You simpleton.

he doesnt actually go around killing people in real life. so what makes what he does in the game diffrent from what james bond does?

James Bond is not a real person. He is a fictious character in an explicitely fictious setting. Curtis Jackson is a real person, a person from a gangster background who openly endorses gun culture. His appearance as himself in a video game where he kills people with guns and promotes his music... is my point not clear enough here? In America and increasingly here this person is a very strong role model to people. His music sells in ridiculous quantities. He is a prominent, high-profile celebrity. He is in a game as himself killing a lot of people. With guns. Commiting crimes. It is fundementally irresponsible. This is distinctly fucked up.

Of course 50 cent has held a gun in real life. In record covers, for instance.

According to writing about him, he used to sell drugs and intimidated a lot of drug sellers around his neighbourhood to expand his drug business. I assume he didn't do that waving with a Julio Iglesias CD in his hand.

Maybe waving one of his own CDs?

the 50cent in the game is more of an alter ego than a real fictonal charecter. everyone knows 50cent doesnt do the sutff he doesn in the game.

The lines are purposefully blurred. It is in the interests of Jackson's promoters that Curtis embodies the 50 Cent persona in reality. And his celebrity means that in the public eye he is 50 Cent before is his X individual.

He may live in a nice big house now but as pointed out by Zuiyo he has a shameful past of violence, drugs and gun crime.

I don't think a person like this should be allowed a game which just glorifies his bad character and life style, whether that character is left in the past or not.

Putting a real life face, with a reputation and history of this kind on a violent game and playing up to the whole gangsta bull shit in this way is far more irresponsible than doing it in a humouress, fictional (with regards to the characters you play with and interact) way like that of GTA for example.

Those aren't developers you're looking at, those are publishers.

As game budgets go up, so does risk aversion. No publisher wants to invest $20m unless they're pretty sure they're going to sell enough copies to recoup their costs - which means "tried & tested" and "cross-marketable" wins over "original and/or good".

Actually Qualified, we are dissing rappers in general. Tell me, what does 50 Cent stand for? Naked dancing girls, sex, bling, that sort of stuff, that's all. Today's rappers have only one thing on their mind, and in their videos all the time. On top of that, their music is SHIT and nothing but. You don't find any semblance of melody or music - it is just plain, pure crap. Oh yes there are quite a few good rap/hip hop artists, but scum like 50 Cent etc stands for nothing but shock value and showing off their cheapo taste in clothes, houses and cars.

Tell me, why every rap(e) video has to feature a de-humanization of women, loads of jewellery, hideous expensive 'pimped' cars, guns, promises of violence, and vocals as if they are not coming out of the mouth but the other end (and lyrics to match)? They all suck, and suck big time. All rap records debut at No. 1 but I don't know ANYONE who owns one. And haven't there been actual deaths in rap/hip hop scene? Are you telling me that the whole business is not infested with the whole east coast/west coast rivalry? Tell me, sugar, do you find any of this bullshit in ANY other music genre? And tell me, don't all rappers in their record claim to be the richest/coolest/most dangerous? Aren't there daily news items where rappers are rounded off/locked up/charged/apprehended? Do you find rockers, or country singers, or pop stars behind bars that often? Case closed.

Back in the heydays of Run DMC and DMX, etc, Rap meant something. Today, thanks to people like 50 Cent, it represents the bottom-sewer form of music. The reason Eminem is so successful is because some of his songs can actually be heard and are quite catchy - the same reason Outkast are so successful. It has nothing to do with being black or white, stupid.

And in case you didn't notice, Saint 50 Cent's MENTOR is Eminem - have you ever heard a 50 Cent record or you just buy them (10 copies each) and hide them in the cupboard? Music has been polluted by this scum - I simply can't see the same happening to gaming.

Again I am not a racist, and I am not 'white' as well. It is a bad thing that 99% of today's rap/hip hop artists are black - that does not make them any better or worse. I will take 'Jesus Walks' by Kanye West any day over this talentless pile of crap.

"some of the musics best producers mainly produce rap music, and play real instruements and even score movies such as rza."

Actually it is not difficult to find good producers in ANY genre. And yes, that truly is Oscar worthy material, I bow in respect. My bad. (By the way, I did like 8 Mile, but that is an exception that proves the rule).

"50cent has cheap taste in cloths and houses? lmao u serious, he has one of the most expensive houses in america. and his cloths cost more than your house. "

Ha! As if money could buy you taste. Tell me you don't intend that as a joke! No? The above statement alone sums up the mindset of today's rappers, and proves me right. Yo, man! My house is bigger than yours/ My car is bigger than yours / My c**t is bigger than yours.... there is your new Christmas No.1 right there!

And brother, I don't have a problem with Rap music as such, and I categorically said so. I have a problem with TODAY"S rap music. And yes, rockers are known for drug abuse - that is why I said 'that often'.

" theres so many rap videos that don't have guns, drugs, violence, women... but you wouldnt know because your ignorant to rap. " Which tells me that MOST OF THEM DO. Thanks a lot.

"rappers are involved with the law on a daily basis? name me 7 rappers been involved with the llaw in the last 7 days. " Are you familiar with the concepts of 'figures of speech', 'irony' or sarcasm? Thought not.

And yes, I didn't realize that East Coast/West Coast was over in 1996 - Now its California and Miami or something. Are you kidding me? THAT particular bout may be over, but they keep coming up with new ones. Ever heard or seen Eminem's "Like Toy Soldier' - a great song but you wouldn't know.

Yes I am ignorant about today's rap scene - because it disgusts me. I can't watch their videos for their nausea-inducing qualities. And most rap records do debut at No.1, but quickly fizzle out (MOST, I said) - it is their sheer number, and the easy money involved (no singing, dancing, decency, talent required) that makes it the top selling genre today. Alas, there is no 'Gangsta's Paradise' in today's Billboard 200 and you can't deny that.

'All rappers are different'
Yeah sure, only most of them look the same, act the same, wear the same, and sound the same - like a procession of particularly foul-mouthed donkeys.

Anyway my taste for rap music comprises of the stuff aired on MTV, and I have no desire to dig further, thank you, since I know the stuff that ISN"T AIRED will be even fouler.

Thanks for validating all my points.

So while it is off topic ill add my 2 pence.

Im a hip hop fan but im no 50c fan and i cant stand most the crap hip hop artist that i see on mtv & any other channel as thats most likely the hip hop that makes people beleive in all the sterotypes of a hip hop artist.

What I find funny is the people who judge eveything hip hop on what they see on mtv & that goes for the hip hop fans who only watch the stuff on mtv & the people who just hate rap in general.

So what if 50c has a video game!!!!

Okay open your minds real wide for this i have a great idea:
lets get EA to make a sim game where you are a big money making CORP
you have to find clebs and get them to join in a tv show like "I'm a cleb shot me out of this cannon" then you have con them into making a music cd about the tv show and making a computer game. Sell that to the public and get it to number one Plus get all the video card sponers, gamespy GOTY and your own mother to buy the crap you push out.

Lets see anyone claim computer game don't inspire violence after that hits the shleves. I'd go fucking mad!!!11

Just musing for a second here, is there a reason why almost everyone in this comments thread who is against this game and the kind of image that 50 Cent represents, can type in proper sentences and spell/punctuate, whereas most people with the opposing view (who like commercial rap, think that 50 Cent is great, and are defending the image/lifestyle) can't?

Hate to generalise here, but the contrast is obvious. And I don't know about you guys, but it tells me something.
