I Am Alive due by end of March - Ubisoft News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

21 January, 2009

Ubisoft has revealed that mysterious survival game I Am Alive will be released by the end of March.

That brings the launch forward from spring (Q2), which strikes us as bizarre, as we've heard next to nothing about the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game so far. But Ubisoft was adamant Q1 2009 was the date when contacted this morning.

I Am Alive is being made by Cold Fear developer Darkworks, and takes place after a terrible earthquake in Chicago, where those left alive struggle to survive. Oh, and Jade Raymond is definitely not working on the game.

Still, we're intrigued; enough so that we pipped I Am Alive as our star attraction of the adventure genre for 2009.

The latest Ubisoft schedule also added March dates for Tom Clancy's HAWX and the PC version of Tom Clancy's EndWar. Call of Juarez prequel Bound in Blood will be here in Q2.

Elsewhere, Wii exclusive Tenchu: Shadow Assassins (Tenchu 4) will arrive on 6th March, which is the same month Broken Sword Wii will show up.

Still no sign of confirmed projects Splinter Cell: Conviction, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 on the schedule.

HAWX is going to have to go a long way to beat Ace Combat 6. I am sceptical.

I am alive looked good, from the single screenshot I've seen of it.

Would love to see Broken Sword sell well for DS (and Wii, but expect that the Wii version is just going to be identical with higher-resolution art - would be great if they included the speech stuff on Wii though)!

Hmm. Sounds a bit odd this. Hope they haven't been withholding information thus far because the game is plain shite :/

Actually that doesn't bode well for it. Ubisoft are usually relentless in their marketing of key titles

To me as long as its good I will be happy, there isn't many flight games about so beating the best isn't always needed to be worth a purchase.

I haven't seen shit from I am alive, which is kinda worrying. But, maybe it is indeed a good sign.

Remember folks, I Am Alive has absolutely nothing to do with Jade Raymond.

I'm interested in HAWX if only for Ace Combat to finally have some competition.

Developers of Cold Fear are working on I Am Alive? That's not good. Cold Fear started out brilliant, but it went down the drain towards the end.

Definitely interested in the Juarez prequel - loved the first one (even though I haven't got too far in it yet).

That's actually made my day :-)

Maybe Ubisoft have learnt the lessons of over-hyping games, particular ones that aren't thus far part of an established franchise. This is brand spanking new IP after all and akin to Assasins Creed. I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised, Peter Molyneux should learn.

great.

Though I'm worried, sound weird from Ubi to reveal a game 2 month prior to launch.

But they pretty much made Assassin's Creed a hit on the strength of its advertising.

I liked Assassins Creed, sure it was repetitive but a glimpse of what Assassins Creed 2 could become. As for I Am Alive, I'm crossing my fingers for it. Very odd how tight lipped they have been about it though. Which makes me even more intrigued.

Well that's funny, because the Ubisoft Release Schedule document that I got at about five to nine this morning didn't even have I Am Alive on it, let alone in March.

Rumour has it the super-exclusive Collectors Survival Edition will include an "I Am Alive" tote bag, extra content, and a fleshlight with Jade Raymond's face printed on it.

I'm looking forward to I am alive. Ubi do try new things, so credit for that. And why all the hate for AC? I haven't finished many games on my 360 but I finished AC and loved it. Granted, I didn't do any of the acheivments like collect the flags or kill the templars but the story and gameplay had me hooked. Can it be improved - yes it can but so can all games. I say well done girl.
