I Am Alive delayed for "more work" News

PC PSP DS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Tom Bramwell

22 January, 2009

Ubisoft has delayed the release of I Am Alive until its next financial year, which runs from the start of April until the end of March 2010.

Yesterday the publisher issued a release schedule that said the Darkworks-developed adventure game could be out before then, but this evening CEO Yves Guillemot told investors it had been "postponed until next year, as the game needs more work".

Guillemot subsequently told investors that a sequel to Wii launch title Red Steel would be released in the coming financial year.

Ubisoft's latest financial report has also reiterated that Assassin's Creed 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction will be released before the end of March 2010, along with new Ghost Recon and Anno games.

Other games on the slate for the publisher's coming financial year include James Cameron's Avatar, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, the sequel to Arthur and the Invisibles, one other licensed game, three new brands and more casual titles.

Ubisoft also announced worldwide figures for a number of its Christmas releases last year. Shaun White Snowboarding has shipped 2.3 million units to retailers, while Far Cry 2 did 2.9 million, Rayman Raving Rabbids 1.5 million and Prince of Persia 2.2 million.

It's hardly a suprise given how little has been shown so far.

I'm sure Splinter Cell Conviction is vapourware, is it still a MS exclusive or has that deal expired by now?

What myiagros said. I never expected it to be out within a few months, given there's not been any gameplay footage so far, or even any screenshots if I'm not mistaken.

Not surprised. Its only this and a new Ghost Recon that even interests me in that list.

Delayed? I didn't think it even had a release date yet so it is hardly delayed.
This game may turn out like Alan Wake - slow pieces of information over 4-5 years.

As for Splinter Cell Conviction, it was supposed to be out last Autumn IIRC. To delay it this long it must have been bad in the first place.

@ beckyh

Rumour was the tech in AC put SC:C to shame so much they scrapped it and started over. Whether that is true or not I don't know.

If only GR would go back to the relative squad 'complexity' of the original xbox GRs....

All shiny and HD is nice but the 360 games have been sorely lacking in the single-player content.

Let's face it: you took 'financial 09/10' as March 2009. How about double-checking your articles before posting them?

I refuse to acknowledge any ubisoft news unless they somehow incorporate Jade Raymond into it.
For Example, I Am Alive, the game that Jade Raymond is in no way linked to, to be delayed for more work.
