Human Head on fire News

PC Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

23 April, 2007

The office building that housed Prey developer Human Head has been devastated by a fire.

No one is reported to have been injured though the historical property in Madison, Wisconsin is said to be ruined.

The blaze erupted in the early hours of Friday morning. The cause is still under investigation [thought you said it was fire - Ed].

Human Head is best known for its work on recent PC and Xbox 360 title Prey. Luckily for them the report suggests that the fire was contained in an area of the building away from the majority of servers and file storage.

Head over to Blue's News for more information.

Glad to see you're taking this opportunity to crack a few witty remarks. I'm not suggesting we start singing a candle in the wind but [thought you said it was fire - Ed]. seems a bit cheap.

Lack of human injury = scope for immediate frivolity.

By the sounds of it the whole building is ruined so how come some part of it is intact. You'd expect the servers and all to be ruined by water damage anyway if the fire didn't get them.

Erm, any software company I know either has a fire room protecting the servers or auto backups all data to a data warehouse.

I've heard of developers finding excuses for taking my time but seriously...

Historical building being classified as ruined & everything (inc servers melting months of work) is different. Probably.

Perhaps the servers were saved by the insulating layer of mediocre, overhyped shit that was the Prey source code?
