How to opt in for WOW Cataclysm beta
Linked Battle.net, WOW accounts required.
Blizzard has posted a note on the US World of Warcraft site reminding players that the beta test for the Cataclysm expansion will be starting soon, and informing them how to opt in to be considered for it.
There's nothing on the European WOW site as yet, so plans on this side of the Atlantic may be less far advanced, but the process for opting in is the same.
You'll need a Battle.net account with a World of Warcraft licence attached. Visit the Battle.net beta profile settings page, make sure you have your system specification uploaded using Blizzard's tool, and check the box to say you're interested in beta tests for the Warcraft universe.
Then sit back and join us in waiting for an email from Blizzard. No, we don't know how long it will be either.

Why neg him? He's right, it has. On top of Warcraft you can also opt in for Starcraft and Diablo betas. This "news" is over six months old.

The article makes no mention of the fact that this option has always been there. The implication is that it is an entirely new process. The article should have mentioned that this is a reminder of an existing opt-in feature in the run up to WoW, not something brand new.

And explorer might change since one of the data mine achievements was Survey the Damage which I guess you get re-treading the old world to look at the changes. That and you'll have another faction to grind if you don't get Ambassador of the alliance before the Worgen arrive.

Jesus, that's a fucking cracking point. I didn't think about that! Thank-you for making me realise that I have even less time than I thought!!

Err... why exactly would that matter? The point is just that it's there. That's what a reminder is. I don't think it requires a detailed analysis of the mechanic it uses.
