How Rock Band DLC works

Buy individually or in packs.

MTV has confirmed that you will be able to buy individual downloadable songs from Artist Packs rather than buy the whole lot.

It also stamped its seal of approval on the leaked list of downloadable albums, which is due to be available after the game is released later this month in the US.

Unfortunately there is still no word on how much the Artist Packs or individual songs will cost, but we do know that Harmonix, MTV and EA are keen to offer new selections as regularly as every week.

According to 1UP, the first wave of downloadable content will look like this:

Artist Packs:

  • The Police: Roxanne, Synchronicty II, Can't Stand Losing You (masters)
  • Queens of the Stone Age: 3s and 7s, Sick Sick Sick, Little Sister (masters)
  • Metallica: Three-to-six song pack, no songs announced (TBA)
  • Black Sabbath: N.I.B, Sweet Leaf, War Pigs (covers)
  • David Bowie: Moonage Daydream, Heroes, Queen Bitch (TBA)
  • Punk Pack: The Buzzcocks' "Ever Fallen in Love," (cover) The Clash' "I Fought the Law," (master) The Ramones' "Rockaway Beach" (master)

Single Songs:

  • Credence Clearwater Revival: "Fortunate Son"
  • Foreigner: "Juke Box Hero"
  • The Knack: "My Sharona"
  • The Runaways: "Cherry Bomb"
  • T-Rex: "Bang a Gong"
  • Wolfmother: "Joker and the Thief"
  • Pretenders: "Brass in a Pocket"
  • Radiohead: "My Irong Lung"
  • Weezer: "Buddy Holly"

EA and MTV also recently unveiled an ever-so-nearly-complete track list for the game, which crawls out of the 1960s right up to the present day where we have computers and things.

    Take bloody notice Guitar Hero. It seems obvious, but not obvious enough for some.

    Rock band.
    Single songs OR packs of songs that actually go together and might be valuable to a player as a whole.

    Guitar Hero (much as I LOVE the game to bits)
    No single songs, only packs of 3 songs, 1 or 2 of which you often give a crap about and wish you didn't have to pay for.

    Personally, I think good products are perfectly allowed to be money printing machines. Its what gives companies proper incentive to create genuinely good games.

    Am I the only person who isn't interested in spending a hour setting up a maze of wires, so I can sit with a set of yellow Fisher Price drumsticks looking like a complete twat??

    There'll be a heap of these on e-Bay in January.

    That said, I can already play quite a few Metallica songs, rythm-stuff at least, on real guitar. Be nice to see some of the instrumentals like Orion and To Live Is To Die mind, cos I can never be bothered learning the whole 8 or 9 mins, heh!

    You take youself far too seriously. You don't have to do this in the street where everyone can see you.

    How about instead of venting, you just maturely say "this game doesn't appeal to me".

    About time some CCR turned up in one of these games.

    Also, at least two of those songs have appeared in Harmonix produced Guitar Hero games so how long until 'More Than a Feeling' is announced for Rock Band?

    Granted, you can't buy the tracks individually, but the first two sets of guitar hero 3 DLC are artist packs so that does address one of your complaints.

    I still haven't seen the point of going onto a game's comment section and saying 'i don't like this game'. Seems a bit pointless. If i don't like a game, i tend to just stay away from it.

    Constructive criticism, is a different matter as that can at least start a conversation about said feature.
