Hotel Dusk due in April

Room for all.

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is due for release on 13th April, Nintendo said today, following its launch in the US at the end of last year.

Made by the same lot that did Another Code: Two Memories, Room 215 is an adventure title that is played with the DS held like a book, with the touch-screen used to pick through the players surroundings.

Generally the touch-screen offers 3D navigation while the top-screen shows a map, but when you close in on something you want to investigate you can swap over the screens and check objects of interest.

Obviously you can expect to be solving puzzles as you go, taking the role of retired New York cop Kyle Hyde, who finds himself exploring a mysterious hotel in the desert where all is not as it seems.

You'll be able to find out what all actually is when we pick Room 215 apart in the near future, but in the meantime there's a gallery of intriguing shots to scour for evidence.

Loeffe: You don't, just import from America. The DS is region free.

The DS is all about waiting for the next oh-so-special release, but once you head down to the local game store, there's nothing worth buying. Why is that? And where is Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Final Fantasy III, Elite Beat Agents, Dragon Quest Heroes, this game, and so on, in Sweden?! Annoying to say the least.

Finished this last weekend. It's great; more of an interactive book than an adventure game - it's very, very linear in that it won't even let you pick up items until you need them or the game deems them necessary, and it is very easy, but it looks gorgeous, the plot is interestingly different and well-paced and it's nice to see a game that doesn't involve zombies or ghosts or aliens or any other otherworldly deus ex machina. Play it more for the experience of the world and the story than for the gameplay mechanic.

Having just finished this a couple days ago, I have to say I was a little disappointed by it.
Though I loved the style and presentation of the game, and the way it makes full use of both screens, the puzzles were insultingly easy (especially if you've already played Another Code) and the ending felt rushed and limp.
The only time I ever got stuck was when I'd put the game down for a couple days and forgotten where I had to go next in order to progress the story.

Its not bad, but even 2nd-rate PC-puzzlers like Syberia are better (IMO)

Completed 3 times just to get all the endings, perhaps my favourite DS 'experience' (note: not game) so far. Beautiful style and presentation, great script and a story I got really quite caught up in. Have read numerous complaints about the gameplay but considering the back of the box states "Take control of an INTERACTIVE MYSTERY NOVEL and discover the secrets of Hotel Dusk" I'd say know what you're getting before you get it! The game is simply a more stylish and more interactive Phoenix Wright I guess. With puzzles.

Imported it from VG+, finished it. It's very nice, if you like that sort of thing. Commits a few of the usual adventure game sins, but it is all very charming and enjoyable nevertheless.

The Ds has taught me the virtues of importing.

Bummer having to wait this time :(

Me too. Waiting several months and paying more isn't a viable alternative.

Got this from play-asia a week or so ago. There's no reason to buy DS games in this country while they continue to be 1) late and 2) overpriced.

I've played this game for a week now and it's good.

How is Syberia second rate? It's considered one of adventure's halmarks of the last years.

Anyway, I imported Hotel Dusk and am loving the storytelling and characters so far. Kyle Hyde is great. The game is expertly written. Very slow pacing, it's definitely a reading man's game. If you have no patience for character development etc, don't get it. I think the kind of person who likes Phoenix Wright will like this at well, though this shares virtually none of PW's silliness.
