Of course you dont - you dont own a 360. Idiot.

Well, I have a 360, have had one since March 2006, and I don't see the need for a Gold account except to play online, and I will not pay to play online - I can use the PS3 for that. I used to have a Gold account, but then I decided to discontinue the subscription. I could game online for free over PSN, with the same network quality (much as you would like to claim otherwise - although I doubt you have a PS3 - I have NEVER experienced any issues while playing online on the PS3; I have, however, experienced lag issues while playing GeOW 1 once or twice, although to be honest, that was the only time I ever had network problems playing online on the 360, and I didn't have any issues after that).

Anyway, my opinion: Live NXE is not the second coming many fanatics make it out to be. In my view, whereas the XMB is a horizontal tree with expandable vertical branches, Live NXE is a vertical tree with expandable horizontal branches - it just looks shinier. Of course, there are some services that Gold Live offers - as mentioned by some other posters here - but those are hardly deal-breakers for me.

Its quite simple... to the hardcore:

Miis are shit(yes they jolly well are),
Avatars are shit(really most hardcore will say they could honestly have cared less if theyd bothered with this for the NXE update, they did what they set out to do with Avatars though, delivered exactly as promised and on time),
Home is totally shit(tried too hard, hyped too much, spent to long and too much money on it... thats why it seems more wastefull because it is in alot of ways).

The casuals, the female gamers and younger generations they quite like stuff like this though it would seem, so it shouldnt make a difference if they are offered what they want too... unless you are really loosing out on it.

To me I think the whole concept of Home is wrong for the hardcore demographic they've targeted with the realistic art style. Its like dragging Auntie and Grandma away from the Wii and putting a FPS on, hoping they will like it because theyve called it "Shooting Mamma" and made it colourfull and all the weapons are made from cooking utensils(to any Sony execs reading this saying "genius!!! what a brilliant concept!" dont bother, I've already patented it ;) ). This has been an expensive project for Sony, one that shows how clueless they can be when it comes to gaming, Sony innovative? are they heck.

*edited for spelling, and to say Vic you are a boring little moron*

I love my PS3, but Home is not my cup of tea and I can see why some people really dont like it, but for a MS exec to slate it, when they have just created Avatars is a joke comment. Really, the avatars are really quite poor (kiddish), and the Wii has been doing for a while... so really thats old hat too. For him to slate it and to totally forget what they have just released themselves... muppet man!
