By the look on their pasty faces, some of them haven't been outside for months. I'm surprised they didn't just pre-order the game online.

Those models were absolutely fricking minging. That's why they went to a geekfest, because they couldn't get employment anywhere else that their direct rivals were given a score out of 10 depending on how many pixels their tits took up.

I'd say the models were ok.

But anyway, what the hell is this about?! It's not like a console launched or anything. Is this Burning Crusade a sequel or is this the kind of thing WoW players do when they getting excited about expansion packs?!

I hate mmorpgs with a passion (on principle, never played one) but at least it seems to keep this bunch happy. They looked really friendly. Keeps them off the streets aswell, don't have to have their ugly mugs polluting our towns :)

this is absolutely stunning dweebery, looks like it's their first time away from their PCs in years! and those sad costumes, and they make their kids wear 'em too!

just confirms what I'd always suspected: there's us (console players with lives) and there's them (MMORPG players whose lives are MMORPGs)

Yeah, I guess you're right. Maybe us WoW geeks really should turn our PCs off, spend £350 on a console and £50 on a game every 2 weeks, start wearing Burberry clothing and cheap shit phat gold chains bought from argos, head into town of an evening, get fucked up on a combination of shit lager and low grade weed because obvously it's far more socially acceptable to be a rude, obnoxious, aggressive, drunk cunt.

I've seen the light! Quick, I need a crap car so I can stick plastic and lights on it to be really cool. Get this man a rusted old Vauxhall Nova right now! Proper Bo!

Lets' see, I play WoW and a bit of Guitar Hero, I listen to a very wide range of music and I enjoy films, from standard holywood action blockbusters, through french, german, chinese and japanese cinema across a spectrum of genres. I also read books. Yes. Actual books. With pages. Made of paper.

What you would call a geek, I would call a well rounded individual.

Are these the same console players who spend far too much time on online forums (usually on a PC) arguing rabidly over which one is gonna win the "War" to realise that the PC is superior anyways?

Anyways, I actually find all those comments about how sad those people "may" be were quite hypocritical considering we all sit infront of a PC/console at some point enjoying games so just get over yourselves and realise that those pictures could be or worse ARE you!

What about those that find time to play console games AND MMOs?

btw, fresh air or sunlight WILL kill me due to my weakened immune system :P

TBH even saying that these people have no lives is a bit of a misnomer. A lot of them clearly have jobs, and girlfriends, wives and children (more than what some of you have, im sure - reguardless of what you 'claim'). Just because they spend a couple of hours a day running around in a MMO world for entertainment doesn't justify some of these comments. And they probably don't care what you think...

Need i remind you that there was over 1500 people at this launch, and just because EG decided to post a few pic's of the more eccentric of the bunch, doesn't mean that you should paint everyone with the same brush.

Oh, and my joke about fear of sunlight and fresh air aside, i'm happily married (to a non-gamer) and i work too...

Funniest thread I've read in ages.

I'm not calling anyone a geek.

But lets see, as has been pointed out, people posting on a games related forum on the Internet, which to me means they have a fairly large interest in gaming, meaning they probably spend a large amount of time in front of a screen, are calling WoW players geeks?

Sorry, but WTF?

Hands up who has gone to any sort of midnight opening for a game related purchase or a queued for a console? Im gonna guess a fair number of you... How does that makes you less geeky, or better than those in pictures? (i got the impression a lot of you thought you were better than them)

And hand up who likes playing games like Final Fantasy or other Japnese/anime RPG's?

I've got news for you hypocrites, to the average person we are all a bunch of geeks.

I play WoW, and guess what? I have a girlfriend, and even more shocking, I live with her!! And I also go out and socialse with my friends. guess I need to get a life.

Anyway i'm will to bet that most of the people in those pictures are more friendly than the judgmental pricks we appear to have here. What gives you the right to judge someone from a picture or by their hobbies? Doesn't really tell you much about what the person is like, how they live their life and what other things they might do in the spare time.

And at the end of the day, even if you are geek? Who gives a damn, there are much worse things to be in life and do with your spare time.

well not me... nor anyone I know to be honest. I did buy the gamecube on launch day (I think) but I did not queue with a load of geeks in costume through the bloody night.
