Hitman games half-price this weekend

When you buy them from good old Steam.

All the instalments in the Hitman series are being offered for half-price on Steam this weekend.

That includes The Hitman Collection, so you can pick up all three for just £6.99.

The deal ends on Monday, so quick sticks.

    'All' hitman games? That's true if you don't count Contracts!
    (remembers Contracts wasn't as good as 2 or BM)

    Still though, if you don't have Blood money, £2.99 is an awesome deal for that

    edited as I now remember contracts wasn't that bad of a game, anyone else find the ghost in the hotel

    Nice, I recently picked them all up again on the consoles (well except the 1st got PC for that). Still need to start them all though so the Steam deal is a nice reminder for the weekend! :)

    I did look at PC versions funnily enough but went console as all the PC versions don't have joypad support sadly.

    Massive bargain. Contracts is indeed the weakest of the lot, and 1/2 have probably aged somewhat. But they are worth visiting, and this is a good price for Blood Money alone (which is the best of the lot).

    i own on disc but for that price will prob pick up again, although unfortunately hitman 2 doesnt run on my machine (vista 64bit)

    Er...whats wrong with Contacts I love that game. Sure it's not up to BM or 2 but still great. I LOVE that opening level!
  • kangarootoo #6 2 years ago

    There is nothing wrong with it as such, its just not up to the standard of the other ones. It makes some advances over 1 and 2 in its system design, but the level design really let it down for me. I still played right though it mind, and enjoyed it for the most part.

    I guess it wasn't that it was bad, but that it was sandwiched in between 2 better games, impaling people with pool cues was kinda cool though

    I've never played a Hitman game. I don't even think I've ever seen one running.

    Will they still be fun and interesting for someone new to the series? Or is nostalgia a large part of their appeal?

    The collector in me is tempted to get this lot... hmm.

    If you like meticulously planning people's demise by collecting a bomb from an Agency cache, dropping said bomb down a laundry chute and detonating, waiting for the fire crews to run out of their locker room when the alarms go off, stealing a fireman's outfit, running past the metal detectors with your trusty fireaxe and hidden pistols, down to the basement level, into the secret server room, sneaking past the doritos all over the floor, then garroting the computer hacker with fibre wire, then sneaking quietly back up and out of the front door, then you'll like Hitman games.

    Can we have a new Hitman game please?
  • skillian #12 2 years ago

    @Koozer

    Yes, I like to do that. Guess I'll pick it up then :)

    Its still cheaper at Play.com though,
    http://ww w.play.com/Games/PC/4-/5258096/... (£5.95) or (EUR 8.49)

    Well worth it, great games.

    Hitman...they had some really talented people working on that series. Some of those cool physics things we take for granted today, like ragdoll and soft cloth deformation, I first saw in their games. And seeing the huge crowd in the Mardis Gras level, with all those people acting independently but moving along together, made my jaw hit the floor.

    The first one was a brilliant concept which wasn't quite executed to a polished standard, but with each iteration it's been improved until you can carry out a mission in a number of ways.

    My personal favourite was killing a Yakuza boss with poisioned fish. When done optimally, no one sees you, you don't use a weapon, no one but your target dies, and the whole thing looked like an accident. Surely the Nirvana of assassinations.

    Thought this was gonna be a trilogy pack, but Blood Money is in there instead of Contracts. Awesome. Might as well pretend that redundant game never happened.

    Oh and Mini Ninjas is actually pretty fun, you should check it out.

    the_dudefather: I did, he freaked me out!

    The second game was cool as well, with the Akimbo shotguns and what not you could unlock.

    Blood Money is awesome, although not something you will play through a lot of times. I've played it through a couple of times just to try all the really stupid ways of completing missions. More games should have customizable weapons.

    @skillian

    The latest installment is pretty recent, and worth the money by itself.

    P.s. if you plan on following Koozer's advice, watch out for the crisps.... ;)
  • kangarootoo #18 2 years ago

    @Skurmedel

    I customised all of the weapons, but I never use them. It seemed much more in character to walk in with nothing but a fibre wire and a few gadgets (and I try not to leave my suit behind if I can help it :) ).
  • Skurmedel #19 2 years ago

    kangaro: Yeah I usually go with the silenced pistol and nothing else... but you can do some pretty hilarious stuff with the guns. The shotgun with silencer and fast reload is, well... brutal in a "No Country for Old Men"-style. I also use the kitchen knife alot,... a bit disturbed yes.

    You can solve the witness protection map quite easily with the upgraded sniper rifle... sit in the garage and pop the old man, drug the clown and steal the necklace.

    Brilliant games, definitely one of my favourite game series and certainly one that's maintained a very high level of quality throughout. Awesome soundtracks by Jesper Kyd too, especially the first one. Some great music in that one, that despite sounding a bit out-of-the-ordinary, somehow still manages to fit so well.

    Great bargain - I already have all 4 Hitman games in boxes, but for 10 bucks shall gladly add them to my steam account.

    BTW Contracts isn't so bad - it's basically collection of best Codename 47's levels plus several new ones - good thing is it looks much better than Codename 47, while preserving almost the same content.

    My personal favourite pick is Silent Assassin and then Blood Money.

    Too bad eurogamer's Hitman reviews are always written from some trigger-happy maniac POV as if the game should be appealing to such audience. Anyway, the replay value is enormous, level design is as clever as it gets in stealth action games, music is beautiful and 47's cool as usual.

    Those who won't buy this, beware - bald guy is coming for you!
