This and Folklore seem to be the best argument for DLC this generation, discounting games like Rock Band for obvious reasons. I really should be getting some of these, haven't so far. Considering some of them have offline components, I may get those. Very disappointing that the Devils DLC doesn't work offline though.

Hmmm... didn't know about the batmobile. Might have to fork out for that one.

Haven't time to read the article yet, but if you haven't grilled them about the hideous rubber-band AI I'm going to be annoyed. Pretty much wrecked the otherwise amazing game IMO.

EDIT: Oh, it was a history article that doesn't cover the games history, just the DLC. Weird.

I have to agree with the shallow and advertorial comments...

I also liked the bit where the issue of downloading content making the game not work was all the users fault.
I guess I'm just narked as I was one of the bewildered children. ;) Stupid me.

Devil's Crossing does work offline - it comes with some tickets. It's the 2-track pack of "diamond something" and "something other of something else" that are for online play only (and time attack).

I found setting the motion sensitivity to medium (playing with the motion sensing controls, of course) that fixed the bikes' oversensitivity for me.

All this patching and updating and different incompatible versions etc etc is making console gaming look depressingly like the PC. We're already seeing publishers put out unfinished titles and then patch them into shape post-release. I guess it's an inevitable consequence of local storage and ubiquitous broadband.

heh. I haven't really tried the motion controls, save for a quick look, so maybe that's a solution.
I can handle the bikes it's just they never really feel like they are actually *there* connecting with the ground and not just a nice looking image floating around a track a high speed...

A history article for a game with only 1 iteration?

Damn it must be a slow day at the Eurogamer offices today!

What a vile "article". A list of the DLC available with their respective prices. Nonsense.

They didn't say that at all. They essentially said it was the fault of the PSN.

You lot don't seem to quite understand what this article is about. It's the history of the game, and how it has changed with the release of DLC and updates, it's an example of how DLC can be used effectively to lengthen the lifespan of a game.

Quite how it's "vile", I don't know. Unless you'e a sony hater who can't stand anything that can be seen as Sony positive. Remember, we've already had DLC reviews for other games, I don't see the issue.

Heh - PS3 article. I had a quick surf through the comment's sections...AND HEY, there he is - old Miiiguel up to his old tricks.

Note to Miiiguel's girlfriend - please buy him a new game to get him off bleedin' Eurogamer. Thanks. ;)

The DLC is great, but it's there in abundance because the game was unfinished - being a launch game, and it only serves to fan the flames of criticism over the shrinking PS3 HDD spec and lack of need for such slow-to-access, large capacity optical discs.

Fantastic game, but the online mode sucks balls. It's technically sound and a lot of fun, but the whole lobby implementation still needs a lot of work. Evolution should take a quick look at COD4 or Warhawk. Surely not that difficult to do something similar?

Haven't time to read the article yet, but if you haven't grilled them about the hideous rubber-band AI I'm going to be annoyed.

I'd say the AI catch-up was certainly no worse than, say, Burnout. If anything it's less noticable IMO; when I lose it's usually due to my own carelessness rather than an AI opponent over taking me.

Are we going to get an article for every game with DLC out? If so, we're looking at quite a high number of articles...

To each his own, but I felt it brought a big sense of futility to the races. It essentially rendered the first few laps pointless, you came first if you raced a perfect final lap or last if you made one mistake near the end.

I've had times where I've retried a race and placed worse despite shaving minutes off my time. It's rediculous since the basic gameplay was absolutely amazing.

Well, I've only just got it and I'm loving it, but I'm a little confused. Did the big update via the online menu, but I can't see Time Trial as an option and the car selection still takes too long. I read the 2D car selection is only available on online games. This can't be true? Am I not doing something obvious?

I've only just got my PS3 and must admit, am loving the single player, but online just seems to take so much effort, so much of this extra content is a bit lost on me really...
Still - it's the only racing game (burnout included) where I heard myself go 'whoa' as a truck smashed a car over my head (whilst on a bike) and into the wall in front of me, then i drove out of the flames unscathed (somewhat unrealistically) and in first place ;) . The melee single player battles (with all vehicle types in) lead to some awesome races, mostly thanks to the rubber-banding keeping the aggression high. In the single class races, the rubber banding gets far more annoying, mostly because its a tight race anyway, and you want to maintain whatever slim lead you can eke out.

I still enjoy this game today, and the DLC is really welcome, as well as the constant updates. However, I was unable to play a game online a week or so back, as I hadn't downloaded the latest patch. Tried to download the patch, but PSN must've been busy as it continually failed, even though access to the Store was fine.

Still, a damn enjoyable game, even if it does make me feel ill with motion sickness after an hour or two!

Good points raised about the DLC tracks online. First few days they were all the rage, but never made it into regular rotation with the other tracks.
Shame coz i really love both the two later ones especially.
Would be good to hear more from them, re where they are at with MS2.
