I've completed this already and the campaign is indeed a bit too hard on normal difficulty -- bordering on frutrating and unfair with high level heroes coming at you way too early in the game. And I'm more than proficient at this game.

However is has to be said the new town group -- the orcs -- are an excellent new town type. there's quite a bit of strategy to using their type of magic and they hit hard. And they cannot use any other type of magic other than their own.

If you loves heroes you'll likely enjoy this stand-alone version of Heroes 5

"now the difficulty is so amazingly high, it's a struggle to get through the campaigns; that 12 hours was spent in one mission"

I remember playing the original HoM5 and the difficulty level was totally screwed up, and it sounds like they've done nothing at all about it.

The longer the mission lasts the more monsters the AI keeps accruing and at a faster rate than you, so it just gets harder and harder. That's just totally fucked up imo. Hardcore players will have the confidence and knowledge to play aggressively and so reach the AI armies before they've grown too big. While for the rest of us, ie mortal players, we'll plod through only to eventually encounter absolutely mammoth AI armies and stand no chance of winning.

Even on the easier skill levels it was bloody rock hard to make any progress.

I can only agree with this review. Just bought the stand alone "gold" version.

It has me tagging back to town to top up my troops all the time....yawn. The manual is hopeless. There's a 200 page "fan" manual PDF....200 pages I kid you not. This however, is nothing but list after list, not a manual.

The in game tutorial ...eh what tutorial, must be the worst I've seen. I've love turn base strat games, but if this is their idea of atttracting people to the series then it's a disaster.
