Hendrix GHWT song pack on Live
Instrument bundles out tomorrow.
Activision has popped a Jimmy Hendrix song pack for Guitar Hero World Tour onto Xbox Live.
Inside are three tracks by the wacky guitarist: "Fire (Live from Woodstock)", "If 6 Was 9" and "Little Wing". All three as a bundle will cost 440 Microsoft Points (GBP 3.74 / EUR 5.28).
Guitar Hero World Tour launched in Europe last weekend as a guitar-and-game and solus disc release, with the big instrument bundles to be available from tomorrow.
Perhaps because of this, the next iteration in the massive Guitar Hero franchise only managed to debut at 17 in the UK all-formats chart.
Activision will also directly lock horns with MTV and old partners Harmonix later this month, when Rock Band 2 launches as a timed-exclusive on Xbox 360. But again, instrument bundles will arrive a little later, as will the versions for other platforms.
Who will win? We shall wait and see. But what we do know is that both Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 are excellent and well worthy of your money.

Opinions vary - personally I've owned pretty much all of the guitars and my favourite is the RB Strat, although some people prefer the GH3 LP - I have both in my place so people can choose which they prefer. RB1 drums need modding (metal footplate, neoprene pads) but once done they're quieter than both the GHWT and RB2 drums out of the box. Cymbals are nice in GHWT, but if you plan on mostly playing RB (as we do), the fact that only one cymbal works in RB1/2 makes them less important, and if you really want cymbals you can add them to the RB2 kit, with the added bonus that in that case all the cymbals work (and although dupes in-game, are separate in drum trainer & freestyle).
Horses for courses really. The larger setlist and better group play (all the reviews say GHWT's party play is sub-RB1, never mind RB2) is why I would choose RB2 as my software of choice, and everything else will fit around that.

I'd be pissed if I spent £120 or whatever for a game, and they wanted me to pay extra for something 1 week later, someething they could have quite easily put on the disc.
I know the point is its a song pack, so it will only be downlaoded by people who like the songs, but still, its not even like they're that cheap, I could get worms for the same price and play it far more often than these three songs.

Probably because you don't "have" to pay for it. You could just not get it.

Actually it should be seen as a benefit - one of the great things about Rock Band is that you get new content every single week, often 6-11 tracks in recent weeks as they aim to hit the magic 500 songs mark by the end of the year. GHWT has to at least match this to have any chance of long-term survival, since they're already starting well behind due to the time lag.

Hendrix's drummer, Mitch Mitchell, died yesterday. Should probably get a mention.
Worst publicity stunt ever!

RB gear works with GH too, so go with whatever gear you fancy. Personally I'm going to give the RB2 drums a go and see if they are much better than then the RB1 set.
