HD Remix patch details and videos News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

25 July, 2008

Capcom has outlined changes being made in the upcoming Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix online Xbox Live beta patch.

There are 13 discrete tweaks, all of which you can read about on Capcom-Unity, and they're all the sort of thing an SFII die-hard would appreciate. Were you bothered by the number of juggle hits on Ken's fierce Shoryuken? Not as much as we were by the distance between him and his opponent after a Hurricane Kick.

Not content with merely outlining the improvements, which prevent crashes and reduce packet loss between duelling players, Capcom has also produced a pair of videos contrasting new and old netcode under identical network conditions.

We suggest heading over there to see it in action.

SSFII Turbo HD Remix is due out as a download title for Xbox 360 and PS3. The current online beta is Xbox Live-only for logistical reasons and you can access it by purchasing Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 on Xbox Live Arcade. It lets you set up online fights between Ryu and Ken.

I thought there was a PC version, no?

Also, isn't it a bit dodgy having a beta test for networking on only one, er, networking system (Live not PSN)?

Nope.

As stated in the news story about why there is no PSN beta, Capcom said that there is network parity between the two systems online code, or something... ;o)

Excellent. The freezes are a bit of an embarassment for them tbh, considering the beta's selling them copies of Commando 3.

Otherwise it's an awsome little beta if you're into Streetfighter II. Hopefully they'll have normalized the volume between the menu and in game music and sounds.
