Haze slips into financial 2007

Financial report spills beans.

Haze has slipped into Ubisoft's financial year 2007 - which runs from April 2007 to March 2008 - according to a quarterly financial report from the company.

The publisher was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

The game, originally expected in early 2007, is developed by Free Radical design - the team behind the TimeSplitters series. Haze is a first-person shooter set some 25 years in the future, and puts at your disposal a "high-tech arsenal of vehicles and weapons", as well as "performance enhancing bio-medical support."

It's all a bit Starship Troopersy, going by the first footage released back at E3 2006, with the plot seemingly revolving around crooked corporations and warry mega-tech.

I have a feeling this is going to be the first of a long line of 360 delays.

Does Haze use the Havok engine?
Just recently, version 4.5 - which is seriously optimized with respect to version 4.0 - has been announced. My guess is that a bunch of games using it might be a bit delayed in order to take advantage of the optimizations. But then again, it sounds like the PS3 is the platform that took the most benefits of version 4.5 .

Free Radical say they've made their own ground-up engine for it.

I loved the Timesplitters games, and Second Sight. Haven't got a 360 yet, but this would definitely tempt me to get one when the price for the Premium drops a bit (along with Mass Effect and Bioshock, 'o course).

The plot sounds interesting and mysterious if you ask me, and after Second Sight I'm sure they'll think up some great twists for it.

Isn't Havok middleware, rather than a full engine, anyway? Or whatever the term is for those things that people can slot into basic engines to handle stuff like physics or drawing trees or 3d sound or cooking chapatis or whatever. Like, doesn't the source engine work by using modded Havok physics?

    EDIT: /watches video

That looks cool. Potential for cool, at the least.

Xerx3s there's a story going around about Havoc 4.5 being optimised for PS3.

isn't it a bit super rubbish that EG change their stories without saying so and without admitting they made a mistake? not exactly clear journalism there. bah.

oh and it doesn't use havok.

Oh come on, given the fact that we've only had one trailer and a few sreenshots and not heard hardly anything else about it in previews and features and whatnot anywhere on the net, we know even less about it than even Halo 3. So who really expected it to be out before April '07?

Gullible sods!!! My guess would be right at the end of this year at the earliest.
