Haze delayed again
Until April at least.
In Q3 financial results released today, Ubisoft revealed that its upcoming game Haze has been delayed into fiscal year 2008-09.
The game, developed by Free Radical, was originally scheduled for release during the 2007 holiday period but was subsequently delayed until 2008. Some had expected the game to arrive in January.
Although no new release date has been given for the game, Ubisoft's 2008-09 fiscal year begins in April 2008.
The game was demonstrated at Leipzig in August and at GameCity in October.
Ubisoft has stated that Haze is currently a PS3 exclusive, but as the company has not discounted the possibility of the game appearing on the PC or Xbox 360, it is assumed that this will be a timed exclusive.
The company raised its 2008-09 guidance based in part upon Haze's delay.
GamesIndustry.biz woke up in a bath with a kidney missing earlier.

I've heard much the same, and from members of FR outwith the team. I'd guess this will mean their Lucasarts project and Timesplitters 4 will be pushed back a similar amount of time, or one will be rushed out first.

I predict one of two things happening:
1) The game gets delayed until November 08 which will be justified by Ubisoft saying the game needs more 'polish'. It will be an 'adequate shooter' with ratings in the region of 6-7/10. It will also bomb and be a budget title within 1 month of its release.
2) Ubisoft cancel the title due to 'quality concerns'.
I bet no. 1 happens when really no. 2 should occur. Kill the game please, it's going to be still born when it arrives anyway.

There are loads of games that don't give firm release dates, so when they delay nobody knows. And there are other titles that just ship on time, but turn out to be bobbins. We can't really draw much of a conclusion from this.
As for comparisons to COD4. COD4 is bloody AWESOME, so not being "as good" is hardly a mark of failure. Is a Porshe Boxster shite just because its not as good as a Audi R8? Not saying Haze will be the Porshe of FPS games, but lets just wait and see instead of pretending to know wtf we are all on about.
