HAWX locks on to September News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

2 June, 2008

Ubisoft has just sent word that Tom Clancy's HAWX will be out in September.

The flight combat game had previously been expected sometime this holiday, or autumn, or Christmas, or whatever you want to call it.

Others listed for that period are the likes of Far Cry 2, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Tom Clancy's EndWar and Shaun White Snowboarding.

Elsewhere on the schedule, the new Prince of Persia game is separated from the pack and listed in the third quarter of the Ubisoft financial year.

This puts it somewhere between October and December, but definitely this year, although no footage of the game was shown at the recent UbiDays event in Paris.

Look out for all of our coverage from UbiDays soon.

The ground stuff looks a lot better than Ace Combat - though the sky stuff looks about the same. It's a shame it won't be able to match the inventiveness of Ace Combat's scenario's - since Tom Clancy stuff always aims for realisitic. So no giant aerial battlestations, ARK-BIRDS, tunnel system missile base fly-throughs or laser mounted weapons. :)

I laugh at the noob who thinks Assassin's Creed sucked.

The irony. You have to be pretty new to videogaming to like such a shallow dazzler.Terrible game.

When I tried playing Assassin's Creed on the 360, I got bored really fast.
But I recently finished it on the PC, and it was one of the most enjoyable playing experiences I've had in a while.
The repetitiveness is still there, of course, but I found myself a lot more engrossed by it all. The controls just didn't feel as bad, and I was able to get past them and on to the story and the missions. A lot of the game is just skipable (doing only the required investigation mission, for one) but I just felt like doing it all and getting to know what was going on.
I think it is a great story (obviously to be continued) in a very pretty wrapping and, on the PC at least, with a nice and different control mechanic that pulls off most of what it aimed for.

And, of course, if you think otherwise, your opinion doesn't count :P

BTW, HAWX... meh... I'll wait and see.

Still following the "put everything out & xmas & hope some of it sticks" model I see ... I thought the games industry was supposed to be past that by now.

still makes me laugh how ubisoft seem to be the only developer in the world who can get tearing during their company logo movie at the start of a game ;)
