Harvest Moon DS in April News

DS News by Tom Bramwell

16 February, 2007

Prepare to moo-ve on down to the shops and horn in on Harvest Moon DS, because Nintendo has finally sown the seeds of release with the announcement that it's out here on 13th April.

Word through the bovine is that you'll be hoofing it around Forget-Me-Not Valley, using the touch-screen to pet and care for your animals. Presumably there'll be a tutorial to help farm-iliarise yourself with the controls.

As with the other Harvest Moon games, you'll have to plant seeds, harvest crops in the right season and try and turn your farm into a profitable entity (notice how we've stopped) in order to release the Harvest Goddess and the Harvest Sprites from the world where the Witch Princess has sent them.

But the other part of it will involve building relationships (and perhaps even marrying) the 25 villagers (not all at once), maybe going fishing and keeping yourself occupied. With any luck it'll be as good as the recent Magical Melody Cube version. We'll let you know.

I feel like I've been waiting for this game for years and years (although obviously I haven't). I'm looking forward to that magical moment when I first use the touch screen to brush my beloved cows and make them moo in that special 'I'm so happy!' manner...

So is this game actually any good? Surely there are import reviews on the 'Net...I'm just too lazy to look for them.

I was really up for this, but import reviews have rather put me off. It's been picking up quite a few scores around 50%.

Will there be enough room in my life to take in both this and AC:Wild World?

Yep, I'd read that the save feature was borked (and ended up ruining the whole game). ;_;

edit: who knows - maybe this bug has been ironed out for the European release?

Most importantly, I've been told that the many, many bugs that plagued the US version have been fixed.

I'll get it when it's cheaper.

Yeah, it's really bad, stay away from this one and wait for the new one (which has just been released in Japan) - or go with the GBA one.

This came out about nine months ago in the US. Bit of a joke really.
