Halo Wars gets Strategic Options

Adds three modes, costs seven quid.

Microsoft has released the Strategic Options DLC for Halo Wars.

The pack costs 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) and adds three new modes: Keepaway, Tug of War and Reinforcement.

Keepaway is a take on Capture the Flag where players have to capture a roaming Forerunner Sentinel to score points; Tug of War totals up the the combined army, building and resources left at the end of a match to declare a winner; and Reinforcement provides varying units players must quickly adapt to and use against waves of incoming enemies.

Halo Wars is a real-time strategy spin-off made specially for Xbox 360. Head over to our Halo Wars review to see whether Master Chief would approve.

Tug of War mode still seems like a total ripoff to me.

Rip off of what ? Not that it matters, is just for curiosity sake, as I don't care about "ripping offs" as long as it's fun.

And these sound like they are fun. Well, this gen is all about "horde" modes and co-op. Gears "invented" horde, and Halo prooved that coop is a lot of fun.
    Keep them coming.

    miiiguel,

Damn I was hoping to get a cheeky comment in before you as you are such a Halo fanboy. ;)

Anyway a bit to expensive methinks

With any DLC, these are ALWAYS optional. So if not for you then not for you, but if you are going to appreciate this then yes this is indeed here for you!!

Not for me though but Tug of War sounds like a great addition and taking into account the whole resources, units seem fair and do change the strategic options available to Halo Wars online players!

Well I love Halo Wars, even though I havent even finishes single player I can't get enough of the Multiplayer 3v3.

However if MS think I'm gonna fork out that much loot for a couple of game modes they can take a running jump into a lake of boiling pish.

New/altered units and a Covenant campaign and I'd THINK about shelling out, but not for this paltry offering.

Wow. Talk about rip-off. Three modes for £7? This should be free.

If they fix the arbiter and knock 400msp off that price I would probably pick it up.

800ms points is a rip, 400ms points is a better price, sort it out microsoft.

    @FWB

    I agree...

I never bought it i felt the demo was extremly easy...

Extra modes that kind of thing should be included with the game not released after, take Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty World at War , and Halo 2 and 3 for that matter, they release maps but the modes are always free... this is ridiculous.

Ill stick with Empire Total War

Ensemble wouldn't DARE charge for something like this on the pc.

I'm really being turned off gaming by this kinda thing :(.

It sucks you cant even just play like a standard mode two of the modes are in Party
  • miiiguel #12 3 years ago

The modes are very funny, and while you can't play but with a friend in two of the modes, you can also play them all with the AI,. I as affraid I had to wait someone I know to buy them dlc to try it out, but I'm glad I could do it on my own with the AI. Capture the flag is awesome!
