    These scary crow guys looks like something out of a very bad B-movie...

    Only a couple of new shots there.

    Still looks lovely. Love the eery night time glow from the planets in the sky!

    So is this actually ingame footage? or some high rendered video?
  • Ignatius_Cheese #6 2 years ago

    @stevetuck - Understood to be in-game but at a non-native resolution.

    It's just so dreary and brown. The engine may have had an upgrade but the art direction appears to have gone backwards...

    In game, or in game "assets"?

    I'm inclined to agree. Whilst better models, lighting and animation is a good thing, the dulling of the colour pallet is not, in my opinion.

    Are we looking at the same screenshots? Or is it really just the catch-all dismissal now to call graphics 'brown' if we don't like something. Keep clinging to that spar, there's still a number clustered round 'generic' too.

    Compared to the other Halo games it is dreary and brown. It's all relative. I prefer the colourful design of the other Halos currently, though we've yet to see Reach in action. I'm sure Bungie know what they're doing.
  • Mashum #12 2 years ago

    It does look a bit different, Bungie always deliver though and I think Halo needs to change a bit especially since the tweaks in ODST worked so well. There don't seem to be any shadows cast by the pallet of sandbags in one of the indoor areas shown.

    @Anthony_Daniels "looks like Unreal Tournament 3 "

    ..yeah it does a bit. I wonder if this is just one area and just one look of several we'll see in the finished game?
  • Bennicus #13 2 years ago

    Yeah the graphics technically look better, but to me it feels like they've lost a lot of the "Halo" art style - except for obviously Halo armour design it could just be any generic space marine shooter (just going by the graphics I mean).

    Ok then, how about muddy greens, muted greys, washed out skyboxs and bare brown (there's that word again) trees. Better? Apart from the shot of the spartan standing in front of the ringed gas giant not one of those screenshots has any wow factor whatsoever for me. Of course they've only shown a few environments so hopefully I'll like the rest more. Nevertheless on the basis of what we've got it seems that in trying to look different from the first 3 games they are running the risk of just looking nondescript. (see? I avoided using 'generic' =] )

    Not bad, very Unreal infact.
    Great character work but the rocks look like painted cardboard to me.
    Mind you, films do that sort of thing all the time.
    I guess things have to be simplified to have bigger roam-friendly levels.

    i thought the graphics were supposed to be better they are just duller, also the developers themselves pretty much said they are adding nothing new except a half decent story...people grow up bungie try something new before you run Halo right into the ground. Halo 1 great Halo 2 okay Halo 3 meh Halo odst shit Halo reach will sell well but will be EPIC FAIL
