And my post is a prequel to a story that hasn't gone live yet!

My word that's an impressive amount of breakage!

So much big writing, so little time...

I got the impression the story worked in IE then, but it doesn't. IE is barely working on this crappy work PC though mind you...

Well, I was expecting the article to be a big longer than that once it was up, but meh...

I'll never understand why MS don't like MMOs. Then again, looking at FFXI, I do understand.

@retibra:

What I meant was massive install times, massive amounts of space taken up, and even more fees on top of the Live subscription. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but it wasn't made for a console simple as that.

Source, please.

(The screenshots leak doesn't count, because that was a different news).

I'm always intrigued by these stories. I'd absolutely love to see how far cancellations get before they're canned.

The early version of Resi 2 is a fascinating example too.

good lordy, if this does go ahead in any shape or form its an abysmal idea. (triple exclamation mark)
i quite like the hallo franchise and would fancy playing the RTS, but an mMo is just sheer stupidity. why not just make it another 'universe' and avoid all the reasonably important story relayed headaches?

Agree with ilusion, I mean, MS should take good care of Halo IP. If they don't behave, I vote for UN (or some supra national organization) to protect it as a digital monument of the western civilization.

Good thing it got canned. I don't see a WoW type MMO working in the Halo universe. Now a Planetside clone, THAT would be awesome.

It takes Ensemble 4 years to make a simple RTS. It takes other devs 2 1/2 years to make a really good FPS. Do the math. Ensemble are a bunch of slow coaches in the industry. That's why M$ wants them gone.

Classic MMO, bah: that means right-click the mob to begin auto-attacking with your battle rifle and then push the "Armour Penetrating Shot" button every 5 seconds as soon as it cools down to do 125% weapon damage and ignore armour on your next shot, kill 10 grunts and you get a quest reward of a green [Sergeants Battle Rifle]. Woot, +2 DPS!

What works in WoW doesn't work in sci-fi, for me, at least. A Planetside-a-like on the other hand would be awesome. Something where skill makes more of a difference and entering fights is more unpredictable (I mean, standard MMO fighting is normally very predicable, you know within a few seconds whether or not you'll win, after a few hours you can even predict how much health you'll have at the end).

Then you'd just have to release it on PC, no way I'm playing a MMO with a controller. :)

/aside God-damn! I hate those pop-up ads. I now add LOTRO: Mines of Moria to the list of games I'll never own.
