Halo 3 Spartan Laser details
Drip, drip, drip.
Attention soldiers, it's time for more information from the frontlines of Halo 3 development, as another weapon update populates the Bungie website.
This time our reticules are set on the Spartan Laser, known by us professionals as the M6 G/GNR. Crucial information tells us it weighs in at a hefty 19.07 kg, has a muzzle velocity of 299792458 m/s and a unit replacement cost of cR. 2180000.00 - which apparently is quite a lot.
In more realistic terms it's a heavy and powerful weapon that's slow to fire. Acting mainly as an anti-vehicle weapon, it requires a three-second charge before the devastating beam erupts from the nozzle, taking down more or less anything in its path.
As with the the previous assault rifle and Mongoose announcements, there's some quotes from the men-at-arms who've encountered or used this piece of kit.
"I engaged an enemy chopper at a range of [blanked out] meters," boasted one soldier, stroking his handle-bar moustache. "The target immediately erupted into flames. Both vehicle and rider were eliminated."
Another added: "the M6 is one of those rare systems that simultaneously boosts morale, degrades the fighting spirit of the enemy and actually performs admirably as a weapon."
Don't forget that you can experience all this for yourself if you happen to get in to the multiplayer beta test that starts in spring. Currently the only way in is to purchase a copy of Crackdown, which is actually shaping up to be a pretty good game in its own right, as our recent impressions show.
We're so totally pumped right now.

Are you trying to get hits from the Halo mongtard hordes or something??
Actually, don't stop. I'm starting to enjoy them now. I've registered on the bungie forum and I'm gonna start asking for details of halo plant-life. (In the game I mean - not the people who love it)

And people who like Halo actually care about a laser gun in detail?
Might as well latch onto the blogs of all the game developers and post it as news.
Ooo i've got an idea why doesn't Eurogamer provide links to dev blogs, that way people who actually care about said games minor details can just hound the dev blogs instead of posting it as...
"STOP THE PRESS"

No the fact the game was boring in Single Player ruined the game.
Nobody seems to remember all the things wrong with Halo 2 when they're spunking off over Halo3 .
And the fact some of the scenes looked terrible.

It wasn't a bug, it was trying to push the system beyond it's limits. It's not there on the 360 because the 360 has the memory needed for what they where trying to do. And seriously, if a split-second at the beginning of a clip ruined your experience...

The only 'problem' with Halo 2 is that the Xbox wasn't quite powerful enough to run it 100% - other than that IMO it was an excellent game. It's popularity cannot be questioned due to the sheer volume of online games played, before Gears turned up it was still numero uno in the Live charts. Even now on the 360 it is a good looking, very playable, enjoyable game.
Now, SBfistfun, stop dropping troll bait for me to dispose of....

B) Is it portable enough to take to parties, bar mitzvahs and trade shows?
C) Can I buy one at Argos?

Some people like to have a little background on a game, and see how much detail people put into their ideas. Do you people not read books? Proper ones, with depth and plot and detail to their setting? Do you know how much extra stuff a writer makes just to flesh out the world they're setting the book in? Well, sometimes games developers do that too. All these little details about firing times, weight etc. will affect the physics system, and to people who've been reading up it gives them a little prior info on the best way to use it.
At the very least, it gives us a glimpse at the guns we'll be using. I know, some people hate these weekly reports - SO WHY ARE THEY READING THEM!
Yeesh, if it were cars in GT4 you'd not complain.

Halo 3======o - 49
Gears of War==o - 32
MGS:4======o - 29
Surprisingly, Mario Galaxy got just six and Zelda:TP just two! Nintendo aren't very good at spilling beans. (or jissum)
So what does this incisive piece of research prove? Why, that the 360 generates more wank than the porn industry of course. Mind you, with all those hungry fanboy mouths to feed, who can blame them!
