    "Did I mention the god of the video games - Oblivion ?"

    Surely you mean god of the shittiest frame rates in town?
  • JediMasterMalik #11 5 years ago

    Is it just me, or is that newest screenshot worse than the "real-time" ones they showed before, it seems noticable to me. Oh well, still gonna be a great game.
  • Spanky #12 5 years ago

    I really don't think it looks much if at all better than halo2... the model is just far too simple, would you really make body armour in the future that was that rough, surely the amount of friction caused by it wouldn't help at all with bullet deflection. Just being pedantic.

    They better fuckin sort it out!

    Some new shots (at the bottom) that finally popped up on Bungie's site. Multiplayer action from the alpha build, as far as I can tell.
  • Knightmare #14 5 years ago

    I'm pretty certain that they've been confirmed as Alpha build. And I suspect that the public beta test next spring will be using similar graphics.
  • Spanky #15 5 years ago

    Fuck off with the mulitplayer shit Bungy!
  • Ceatlan #16 5 years ago

    The latest shots do indeed look almost exactly like Halo 2 running in Hi-Def. Doesn't appear to be much if any graphical advancement other than the move to Hi-Def, which actually means the graphics end up looking worse.
  • Tiiti #17 5 years ago

    Yup it does look like Halo 2. Maybe the enviroments are loads bigger?
  • penhalion #18 5 years ago

    I guess spending some time with the flood has turned Cortana into a rambling nutter!

    Somehow after Gears, I can't get back in to the jumping about shooting people type of death matches. I want to be able to sneak up on people or blind fire over a wall......

    Also is it just me or does this look no better than halo 2?

    Single player had better be damned good if this is what multiplayer has to offer!

    Oh and just to add this in case anyone from Bungie actually gives a damn what their fans want. Can you sort out the frickin' guns as they obscure a third of the display and you really shouldn't be able to see your hands and weapons that much. Try standing with a M16 or similarly sized weapon and then tell us the halo 2 (and it seems halo 3) view is anything other than out of proportion!

    those screenshots are really disappointing. it's not a marked improvement by anyone's standards. the background textures are rather bland don't ya think
  • Mashum #20 5 years ago

    @penhalion - I completely agree

    As another example dual weilding two plasma rifles in Halo2 obscures more than a third of the screen including useful bits of periphery vision. I ended up get caught on scenery occasionally because of this. It seems a clear case of art design taking precedence over gameplay.

    Still a great game though, can't wait for Halo 3. Especially if they can sort this out.

    Okay, the second screenshot is pretty cool. Needs a funny caption though. :-)
  • TimiW #22 5 years ago

    Actually I think the guns obscuring your vision was also a conscious gameplay decision - wielding 2 large rifles gave you a lot of firepower, the downside being you could see less through your viewport than if you had smaller weapons.
  • penhalion #23 5 years ago

    @TimiW

    Then they need to look at reality. Having been to a texas firing range (while on a company team builder no less) I fired an M16 and wasn't anywhere in my view except when in sniper position i.e. looking directly down the site with one eye closed. Couldn't see my hands or most of the rifle while looking at my intended target!

    Held an old WW2 rocket launcher (made safe obviously) and again it only affected my viewing field when I was in the ready to fire position. You don't run about with the thing on your shoulder as you'll accidentally blow yourself up!

    Playing Gears I guess my short time with it spoiled me. I want some realistic duck, cover and shoot action like that now. Anything else, even with a Halo tag, is going to disappoint. Even cover like Rainbow 6 would be acceptable. No cover at all and simply running in shooting is going to put me off 100%
  • Mashum #24 5 years ago

    At the end of the day it's about what is fun - having as big part of the screen blocked off isn't fun for me, it's a pain. It may be that blocking the viewing area is a tradeoff to make weapon choice a bit more balanced in multiplayer but there must be alternative ways to find a balance, without hampering the interface between the player and the game world.
  • brainbird #25 4 years ago

    Yes, yes, they need to look at reality when making Halo.

    "Yes, yes, they need to look at reality when making Halo. " he said slyly, a year later...
