Halo 3 map pack shots

Bungie LiveText tomorrow!

Bungie has shipped out a batch of shots for its imminent Heroic Map Pack, which may or may not feature real life heroes from television series 999.

They should give you a better idea of what you will get for your 800 Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30) next Tuesday.

Included are three maps: Standoff, a medium and symmetrical valley map with bases at either side; Rat's Nest with labyrinthine passages for big team battles; and the vacuous warehouse map, Foundry.

All are compatible with Forge for editing, and Microsoft even encourages you to get to grips with Foundry - apparently it is perfect for a spot of fiddling.

This is also a perfect opportunity for us to remind you that tomorrow at 3pm GMT we will be chatting to Bungie favourites Jonty Barnes and Frank O'Connor in the third of our LiveText interviews.

The idea is you get to ask your questions there and then to people who matter in the games industry.

So far we have grilled Naughty Dog big shot Evan Wells and Lionhead champion Peter Molyneux - who, incidentally, would rather be invisible than have lasers for eyes.

You can read our Molyneux transcript in the Eurogamer basement.

Oh, or you can pop over to our Halo 3 gallery for the latest Heroic Map Pack screenshots.

I have not used the Forge once since I bought Halo 3, not even been in the Forge lobby, a total waste of time IMHO.

don't want it, don't use it. there are plenty of people who disagree with you. i don't use it myself either, i just don't bitch about it. maps look cool in my humble opinion. they'll last longerthan the two pints it would buy me.
as for cod4, i think that is even more repetitive in my opinion and don't really play it any more. my friends list seems to have followed suit. each to their own i guess.

Burn these guys, put them to jail! OH MY GOD I hate them oh so much for releasing this! I know I can not buy them, but just for the fact someone might have fun with it makes me hate! hate! hate!

"Halo 3 sucks, the maps that shipped with the game were piss poor, and now they want me to pay for more of them?. Maybe in a world were COD4 didn't exist."

    Translated for your pleasure:

"I didn't like Halo 3, and as we all know, it's cool to hate something that's popular, so I'm going to be a big drama queen. The above average maps that shipped with the game weren't the best ever made by man, so these are also shite. I am also ignoring the fact these will be made free in the future, because I'm stupid. Maybe in a world where *insert X game here which isn't actually any better but I simply prefer here* people would be less stupid like me."

Doesn't the 'forge' map have a standard layout though, I'm sure I read about it on IGN, so that it could be included in normal play.

Though I accept the point that forge should be better imtegrated into online play.

I havent played halo 3 since cod4 came out, be interesting if this little lot can tempt me back, I think I'll wait till they are free though

All three maps are playable in match making, but one of them was made for Forge, so it can be edited to a greater degree than the other maps, thats all. Also stop with the Halo 3 sucks crap because it sure as hell don't, its the best online multiplayer game for any console, everything about it is class.

Want those maps...when they're free. Contrary to the complaints of many, I think Bungie did som sensible things with the H3 maps. For all the fun I've had with H2, those maps were often rather complex and demanding to learn. The H3 maps are clean, functional, and quick to get into -- more attractive to the casual gamer.

Pretty much my only complaint about Halo 3 is the lack of spare time I have to play it.

Sadly not around for the live chat, but perhaps someone could pass on my thanks for such an amazing game.
