Gundam joins PS3 launch line-up News

Atari has announced that it will distribute Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight for publisher Namco Bandai in Europe, and it will be a PlayStation 3 launch title.
Reviewed on the site just the other day, Target in Sight puts you in the role of Federation or Zeon forces as you stomp your robotic way around battlefields of the future.
It did alright critically in Japan, but took a bit of a hammering in some of the Western press. We sort of liked it in the end, despite its sluggishness and the slightly ham-fisted way it wields the PS3.
Finally, it's worth noting that it's already out in the States under a different name - Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire. Hot-clank it along to the gamepage to find a couple of trailers and some screenshots.

Proof that Westerners are racist and hate everything about Japanese culture?
Probably more to do with the fact that Westerners aren't as familiar / in love with the source material - some of the US criticism was focused on stuff like the designs, voices, lack of detailed plot and so on, all of which makes perfect sense (and actually seems rather good) if you grew up watching Gundam. Doesn't excuse the plodding pace of the game and some of the more mind-bogglingly dull design decisions, but I have been enjoying it as a bit of a nostalgia trip - and getting to grips with the lumbering responses of your mech is actually surprisingly challenging and interesting, even if compared to the speedy, flashy mech combat in more recent series like Gundam SEED it's all terribly slow :) |

Anyone know what happened to the 360 Gundam game? It seemed to play more like Battlefield, and supported an in-cockpit view. It seems to have vanished.

I was wondering that myself. The 360 Gundam game looked very much like it was going to end up something along the lines of 08th MS Team, which is IMO among the best of the Gundam material in the first place. |

I found this official mini-site, it's changed it's name.
http://www.bandaigames.channel.or.jp/lis... It looks great, but no joy translating, the text is part of the image rather than seperate, so no release date. Amazon.co.uk seem to have it available to pre-order for the 30th of march. Again, looks great. |

How can reiterating that a shit game really *is* shit be misconstrued as Western racism, regardless of subject matter?
And secondly, how do Sony expect people to go for PS3 in Europe when this is what they're going with for launch titles?? And finally, no-one at Atari has built a giant shit magnet - they *are* one. /gets coffee |

It doesn't surprise me that Eurogamer rated Gundam so high, because the reviewers of Eurogamer have NO CLUE how to review games.
Gundam is the WORST GAME EVER!!! It is the 100% opposite of Gears of War on the Xbox 360. Gears of War is the BEST GAME EVER!!!
