Guitar Hero World Tour finally dated News

PlayStation 2 Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Tom Bramwell

30 October, 2008

Guitar Hero World Tour will be released over three weeks next month in Europe, starting with guitar-and-game bundles for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2 on 7th November.

The staggered approach presumably reflects the immense size of the regular in-store bundles, which consist of drums, guitar, microphone and game. Those "super bundles" will arrive on 360, PS3 and Wii on 14th November. The PS2 super bundle will be available on 21st November.

"We're delighted to confirm the release dates for all formats and bundles. Guitar Hero World Tour is the one of the most anticipated games launches this year so I'd recommend that everyone gets their orders in quick for the Christmas rush," Activision's David Tyler told British trade mag MCV.

"The free bass guitar controller offer running with all pre-orders has been exceptionally well received, and we can't wait to see the reaction when the game hits the shelves."

You could always read our Guitar Hero World Tour review, Dave. We gave it 9/10, with the caveat that if Rock Band 2 suddenly pitched up the situation might be different.

Ah.

We'll bring you some more extensive considerations on the subject around the time of both games' launches next month.

Having just relocated to the US I was speaking to one of the guys in the office earlier and he said he paid $205 for it including tax, hasn't been able to play it yet because one of the drum pads is broken and he hasn't been able to exchange it yet.

And he did charge the batteries? The included rechargeables need to be recharged first to get reliable drumming, it's a common error. But he probably knows that already.

So basically, they're rewarding those that are prepared to pay the least amount of money and making those of us who are prepared to part with £150 wait!! Good work! /sarcasm

I don't see why we need the wait! By the time the full band set is released in this country, it'll have been out in the US almost 4 weeks. I personally am pretty disappointed at this news (although I had already noticed the dates had moved on retail websites anyway) and had I not been looking forward to this for so long, I'd have been seriously tempted to cancel my pre-order!

"Make me wait for the band set? How about I cancel altogether!"

i don't think that's making people wait intentionally, they're just getting everything out as soon as possible. and i'm looking forward to it like xmas :)

@Arwin
Does anyone know if we get recharaable batteries with our editions?

@Lankysi
I'm annoyed by that too. Those who invested in the RB full Bqand will be playing GHWT with all the instru,emst before those of us who have pre-ordered the GHWT full band

360 exclusivity on rb2 is gonna have a large impact on sales for ghwt. if it were a toss up between the two if they were released simultaneously on both premium markets, id have ghwt bundle and rb2 sole-us. im getting ghwt on ps3, instead of 360 because of the consoles noise. id have to have the 5.1 really loud to get it over that plus drums, not wise when my boy is asleep! so, ghwt bundle, preorder from gamestation (in case of return) and rb2 solus later

I know it says Europe in the article, but they really mean the UK, aren't they?
As far as I can tell neither of the big nordic shops or German have changed their release dates from November 21.
Does anyone know if this is the case?
