Guitar Hero: Metallica spotted
Inevitable, really.
Clever people with eyes have uncovered evidence that Metallica will be the next band to get its very own Guitar Hero game.
Buried deep in an Activision SEC filing was confirmation of its existence, according to GameSpot, alongside a promise it would be out before the end of March next year.
Metallica will follow in the footsteps of Aerosmith, which gives its Guitar Hero solo performance sometime next month.
Presumably the format will be much the same; play as the band from grass roots to stadiums, tackling most of the back catalogue as well as other songs that inspired Metallica along the way.
Metallica was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich, who incidentally went on to lead the publicised fight against Napster at the turn of the century.

I gotta say, Master of Puppets is their best album. Unless you count S&M which is insanely good.

I hate to say this, but I really do like St. Anger -- their most raw, honest, and direct statement in years. Indeed my only problem with it is that the sound production is so demanding on your stereo.

In fact, nevermind, I want them on Rock Band so I can pretend I can play the drum bits.
Guitar Hero: Queen?

Still, why is there no AC/DC songs in GH or RB??

Not saying they don't exist but they're crossing fingers for crossover. I'm not bothered about either of these bands despite being a massive GH fan, so I'll pass. I think GH is best with a song you know really well.

where's the music games for non-rock lovers? where's my "turntable hero: scratch perverts" game? "sampler hero: dj shadow"? erm, "glitchy noise hero: autechre"?
there are people that aren't into hair metal who like games too!

...ok I couldn't keep that up without laughing.

Although being serious for a moment, I think the idea of everyone wanting to be Rock Stars is more ingrained in our culture and childhood/teen years than wanting to be a DJ. That's like aspiring to be in an accountant.

you've never heard of any of the people in my post have you?
i think you're underestimating the rise of dj culture in the last 20 yrs to be honest. that said, i certainly don't want to be in an accountant...

Didnt codemasters bring out a couple of those type of games for the PS1 years ago, I remember them to be quite fun but got boring real quick. Ultimately though its much cooler to be a rock star than a superstar DJ, because no matter how hard you try a keyborad will never be cool.
Fair play if they get its right, do you think thats what next for the franchise?
Rock Band - now with synth?

Now it's known to me that Het is the tosser, and Lars is actually an okay guy.

....
No?

they weren't rhythm action games tho were they? music generator was like a cutdown sequencer not a game. never played the other 2, mind...
there was beatmania on ps1, which was mint.

dj's don't play keyboards tho. usually keyboard players do that...

Ok you win if you want to be pendantic. The fact of the matter is that it does not make for an exciting post-pub play with your mates game (IMO) - clever and tricky for sure but more of niche than mass market.
The plus the fact that there arent to many dj hero's compared to guitar heros, Paul Oakendfold, Chemical Bor, Prodigy now Pendulum come to mind. Great music tho.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
i'm not trying to be pedantic, a dj is a pretty long way from a keyboard player!
from your posts, it doesn't really seem like you know what a dj is... all those you've listed are producers, not dj's (apart from oakenfold, who let's face it, is shit).
and maybe you wouldn't find it exciting with your mates, but personally i find nothing more dull than trying to recreate hair metal on plastic instruments... would much rather have some music i like - it's all about choice, innit?

yeah thanks, but i know what a dj is - doesn't stop it being possible to base a rhythm action game around dj-ing (or more specifically, turntablism). see: beatmania on ps1.
all i'm tryin to say is, there might be a market for rhythm action games that aren't based on rawk music. didn't expect people to jump on my case, sorry i ever fuckin mentioned it now.
ok, go back to your which-metallica-album-is-the-best arguments, that makes riveting reading...

i was never expecting them to! what part of my posts made you think that?! i never once said that rock music sucks, that metallica sucks, that you should all be listening to what i listen to...
one comment, about how there might be a market for non-rock based rhythm action games. that was it... i just want a music game with music in it i like. sorry if that's offends people (somehow).

In other news, Metallica... yay...
When do we get Guitar Hero: Nu Metal... I want Korn, SOAD, Deftones etc...

@BulletTheory05
I thought they both came off as plain human beings in the film, warts and all. Ulrich certainly gave as good as he got when tempers went off the scale.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, Some Kind of Monster is seriously great. A must if you have any interest in documentary film
@jglover4
I think Ulrich says in BBC's Ages of Rock that they hired Bob Rock for the black album based on his work with Motley Crue

All or most of Siamese Dream on Rock Band DLC would be more likely.

People who want the Black album are clearly more into pop than metal; it's worse than St. Anger. Although both are vastly inferior to anything from the Cliff Burton era and before."
Oh fuck off you dumb bastard.
