Guitar Hero: Metallica demo on Live News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

20 March, 2009

Activision has popped a Guitar Hero: Metallica demo on Xbox Live Marketplace.

The sampler is just over 1GB in size, and offers songs "Sad But True" and "Seek And Destroy" by the titular band. "No Excuses" by Alice In Chains and "Stone Cold Crazy" by Queen also feature.

All four tracks can be replicated on guitar, drums and microphone, and in either single-player, band quickplay, head-to-head, face-off, pro face-off and battle modes.

The full Guitar Hero: Metallica game features over 45 tracks by the band, plus input from 21 other rock stars and groups, including System of a Down and Foo Fighters.

Guitar Hero: Metallica will be out on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii this May.

Yeah, giving away Stone Cold Crazy seems a bit dumb considering the demand for Queen tracks on these games.... not that I'm complaining mind :D

It makes perfect sense because i dont have the time to play the whole thing with all the games i have at the moment. A quick fix is all i need.

Took a chance and pre-ordered from Videogamesplus. I can't wait until May for it to be released here.

Seek and destroy and Stone cold crazy - Utterly brilliant classics!

Sad but true - Horrible, formulaic Bob Rock penned commercial horseshit. I'd stab this song in the throat if only someone would invent a song-stabbing implement.

Alice in Chains - mmmm.. ambivalent.

Overall that's a thumbs up from me!

Totally agree, I almost fainted when I saw Stone Cold Crazy was in the game (which I don't need now that the demo has the song)

I do believe that there will only be around 30 songs featuring Metallica. Had no idea the release date was May though - thought it was supposed to be out end of this month.

I am really annoyed that the ION drum kit doesn't work with this. But the guitar part is fun, still.

'Only' 30? That's about 100 tracks by any other band :P

@DUFFKING

The reasons I say "only" is that the article states that there will be 45 songs by Metallica. The offical number is supposed to be 28.

I presume they're including the Death Magnetic DLC content with that figure though... which still isn't 45 but ho hum.

According to this news article on metallica.com (with the disclaimer the track list is subject to change), the game will feature 28 Metallica songs (as you correctly state) plus 21 songs from various other artists, connected one way or another with Metallica history.

The above mentioned numbers do not include the Death Magnetic downloadable album and clearly are above the claimed 45 songs. Of course you may argue that other artists' songs are not Metallica's and shouldn't be accounted as such, but let me assure you that many people had not heard of Diamond Head before Am I evil? was released as the flip side of Creeping Death; Shame on them!

The is all ruled null in void as 'The Touch' is heading for guitar hero or so I believe,
though I still would like to rock out cyanide, fuel and king nothing not sure if I would pay a full game cost for it though.

Downloaded.

These gh/rb games are fantastic promo for these artists. I own non of these rock albums, but I love loads of the tracks and am planning purchases now...

Can't wait for DJ hero, as that'll bridge the gap - Linkin park tracks anyone? Run-DMC? Plus all the Hiphop you like. I'm in, and they better support Hiphop vocals properly.

/looks forward

I don't know if it's the same now, but all the guitar hero demos for PS3 so far have been available on the BluRay cover disk of the Official U.K. Playstation mag long before they were downloadable on PSN. I didn't check it this time, but I got the previous two (Aerosmith and GH:WT) from the coverdisc long before they were even available on PSN or Live.

They dropped joypad support after GH3. World Tour doesn't support it either (and Rock band never has).

Joypad support would have been nice for the demo I agree, but its hardly INSTAFAIL (for anyone besides you at any rate).

the reason they stoped it is because its a lot easier with a pad wich would render the leaderboards or verus pointless.
