Guitar Hero: Hendrix on the way

Slash suggests so in interview.

Legendary dead guitarist Jimi Hendrix is set to get his very own Guitar Hero game.

That's according to former Guns n' Roses man Slash, speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Slash said it was he who inspired Aerosmith frontmant Steven Tyler to get involved with Guitar Hero: "He called me about it before they did it and I was like, 'You gotta do it,'" he explained. Aerosmith, of course, went on to get their own themed Guitar Hero title.

"And Metallica's doing it, that's great," Slash continued. "And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great."

Activision has yet to confirm the existence of the title, let alone platforms or a release date. Or whether they will reimburse players who get carried away and set fire to their guitar peripherals.

Awww crap. If it has All Along The Watchtower it's going to be an instant sale.
  • Xedoss #2 3 years ago

Could be a fun title. I will probably buy it anyway (i bought GH:A too and i don't even like Aerosmith).
  • DB2k #3 3 years ago

hmm.. this reeks of what should be DLC imo.
  • Zomoniac #4 3 years ago

    Thank god for LoveFilm.
  • Arwin #5 3 years ago

I still think it's rather nice that the GH:A demo has 5 songs to play ... nice little surprise on that coverdisc a few weeks ago.
  • DFawkes #6 3 years ago

    Hendrix. Right. I'll pass.
  • Triggerhappytel #7 3 years ago

Oh fuck off, ActiBlizz. Sooner or later this constant GH whoring will collapse on itself and you'll sell a fraction as many copies.

And I'll piss myself laughing at you.
  • bengray66 #8 3 years ago

Dfawkes - Hendrix. Right. I'll pass.

Please sir, fuck off and never darken these doors again.

All i have to say, is Little Wing.
  • rudedudejude #9 3 years ago

    GOD DAMN AWESOME!

This is what GH is made for. Instant buy.
  • JonFE #10 3 years ago

These add-ons would benefit from a lower price; at 25 GBP they'd retail much better, but I don't see that happening any time soon...
  • Thunderbolt #11 3 years ago

I think you are being overly harsh on DFawkes

Hendrix although on of the greatest guitarist ever is sadly a bit dated now

And what is the average age demographic that play Guitar Hero? So how relevant is Hendrix and it will sell but to certain demographic.

Maybe a 60's/Woodstock package of bands from the era but solo Hendrix I dont think you will find that much interest at full game prices.

    Flame on, foxy lady!
  • Stuz359 #12 3 years ago

Everyone should be forced to listen to God/Hendrix. His stuff still feels fresh today
  • XdarXideX #13 3 years ago

    @triggerhappytel

WOAH! Just WOAH! What's your problem with GH? Did it kill your father? Rape your mother?

I was under the impression that we weren't forced to purchase these games.
  • IronCladChicken #14 3 years ago

I'd managed to let the whole Guitar Hero/Rock Band thing pass me by - But Hendrix edition would make this an essential purchase - Goddammit!
  • PlugMonkey #15 3 years ago

    So how relevant is Hendrix

How relevant is Hendrix? How relevant is Hendrix? How relevant is Hendrix?

No, whichever way you spin it, you're still a moron. Hendrix GH would kick ass. Do a Clapton one too.
  • Thunderbolt #16 3 years ago

    PlugMonkey,

Yes, you knob how relevant! Hendrix is irrelevant to anyone under 40.

And a Clapton one would suck even more balls!

    Wanker

  • Unclebenny #17 3 years ago

Why? I dont have the money for these sort of things. Why do they rekease things Id actually love to buy?

Thunderbolt!- Calling something thats old irrelevant is really ignorant. If you don't like it fair enough but Hendrix has inspired many of todays top bands and created a whole new original sound.
  • XdarXideX #18 3 years ago

    @Thunderbolt!

So a 10 year old such as yourself can speak for all of us under 40?

Despite the fact I know only a few Hendrix songs, I'm open to the idea of a Hendrix Edition.
  • Thunderbolt #19 3 years ago

Ok we all know that a Hendrix game is not coming.

It's great that you all enjoy Hendrix and my mistake for implying that he's not relevant in todays musical landscape. I have already admitted that he is one of the greatest guitarists ever.

I was talking about the GAME not the MUSIC, as the GH demographic is into - well whats already on GH & RB which is full of EMO, NU-METAL and POP SONGS!

If and a big IF this game is ever released and is does really well I will eat my words

I was only responding to being called a moron when I made a rational and well thought out comment as I felt that was uncalled for!

    @Thunderbolt

Kindly fuck off back to whatever emo nu-metal hole you and DFawkes crawled out of.

Your opinions are akin to saying Mozart and Beethoven are crap and dated, and we should all be listening to jazz pianists; old Hendrix's music may be, but as a foundation on which to build modern guitar music he was a true pioneer and tbh his music still sounds fresh today.

And I'm in my 20s. I think you'd have to be a particularly ill informed petulent teenager to diss Jimi, and you'd probably be completely ignorant to the ways in which his stuff influenced music you DO like.

Oh, and I think Slash is probably just confusing the "Hendrix one" with the several Hendrix tracks announced for GH:WT... To make/justify a full-on dedicated release they have thus far had motion capture, exclusive boss battles and re-recorded tracks. Unlikely to be easy with Mr Hendrix. Probably not very sprightly. And his fingers might snap off...
  • Zebula77 #21 3 years ago

Hendrix' music is timeless. Anybody picking up the guitar (a real life one, I mean) will at one point be made aware of Hendrix and his incredible impact on the instrument.
I just hope this one will have enough tracks on it, and not just be another GH: Aerosmith which imo was pretty poor.

"Oh fuck off, ActiBlizz. Sooner or later this constant GH whoring will collapse on itself and you'll sell a fraction as many copies."

Since when was adding more music to a music based game whoring?

    Seriously.

Taking what in Rock Band would equate to £20-25ish worth of DLC and selling it for £50 is pretty much whoring.
  • warlockuk #24 3 years ago

So instead of giving people DLC they just release new games :)

I suppose if they released it as DLC then they might suddenly start achieving their promises they made with GH2 :p
  • Liggur #25 3 years ago

You gotta play it left handed too.
  • XdarXideX #26 3 years ago

Except Rock Band DLC is rubbish anyway. Who gives a sh*t if there is a lot of content for Rock Band if most of it is terribly boring to play, just like the original playlist.

I still don't see why people have a problem with there being more guitar hero games.

EDIT: Oh and also I think people are forgetting there are many non-xbox live enabled customers out there, so DLC-only instead of a disc is ridiculous.

Without changing the settings to Lefty flip ^_^
  • kangarootoo #28 3 years ago

    @Zomoniac

No solus ediition of GH has ever cost £50.

I agree that Activisions pricing structure needs a kick in the nuts (any compilation should be cheaper than its component parts), but that isn't the same as saying single artist disc releases have no place in the market.
