Guilty Gear 2: Overture dated for Europe News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

3 July, 2009

505 Games has announced that Guilty Gear 2: Overture will be released exclusively for Xbox 360 on 4th September in Europe.

Somewhat amazingly, GG2O has actually been out in Japan since November 2007, and in the States since October 2008, but hey, at least we're getting some.

It also means that we have a host of media to help get a flavour for it over on the gamepage, including a couple of videos and over 100 screenshots.

Unlike other games in the series, Overture is an attempt to combine action and real-time strategy, which makes it sound a bit like Dynasty Warriors or, as the Wikipedia scribes suggest, a cross between Devil May Cry and Defense of the Ancients.

Having come out some time ago, there are also various reviews on Metacritic, although they're not very flattering and there's no word on any changes for the European version. We may take a look closer to the European release.

I played the demo when it was available on the Japanese marketplace. That was more than enough to turn me off this game...

Pah! As # 1 said, I think all GG fans are holding out for BB. I wish the Xbox 360 version was region free, but alas, no such luck :(

This looked poor the first time I took a look at it two years ago. Now it just looks even worse.

As long as it has an awesome instrumental guitar sountrack like the other GG games I'm sold! ;P

I had a look at BlazBlue at the arcade next to CEX in Tottenham Court Road and it looked ace. EU release please I want to use my fight pad for something else apart for SF4!

I know what to do! Get a decent enough, fantastic looking 2D fighter and make a 3D strategy game out of it!

Will they ever learn? Developers should sometimes stick to what they do best. Don't get me wrong I love innovation, but this cleary isn't that.
