GTA2 site not counting to re-release
Just an old bug. Very old.
Rockstar has said the clock and dates on its website have nothing to do with the re-release of Grand Theft Auto 2.
The publisher confirmed this to IGN, claiming it was all just a silly old error.
Look closely and you will see that the site simply calculates the date three weeks from your system settings - you can change your computer date to reflect this.
Better still, the website has been doing this since 1999. Oops.
Look even more closely at the alien code language and the site has a date correction for the 1900s and orders to "apply correction for this century only".
The millennium bug is still alive. Run.

Sorry but this is one of the reasons that the online press - or press in general - is lacking credibility. It's no longer about facts, it's about the race to get information out there asap for the page hits. Whether that information is accurate is another thing.
