UK retailer Shopto has told our friends over at GamesIndustry.biz that a Grand Theft Auto IV PS3 bundle is indeed on the way.

"We know for a fact it is coming out in Europe and we are expecting an announcement in the UK any time," said COO Igor Cipolletta.

Apparently the bundle will launch alongside the standalone game on April 29th, and will cost GBP 299. According to Cipolletta, it hasn't been officially announced yet because there's confusion about who will distribute the bundle.

"We are not sure if Gem or Centresoft are distributing it yet, that seems to be the hold up," he stated.

Grand Theft Auto IV is out on PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 29th. Still.

I hope MS do. I haven't got either console yet but am forced to now that GTA IV is coming out. At the moment, I'm edging towards XB, but if an XB bundle's on its way then I'll wait for that.

WTF, MS? What happened to "owning" the GTAIV launch?!

@JJRabbit - that's a retailer bundle. Official bundles get much more visibility, and this also raises the sceptre of Sony advertising GTAIV just for PS3. Lots of people will then associate GTAIV with PS3.

I can't believe MS would drop the ball like this!

I expected them to have a bundle, and ONLY them to have a bundle.

I expected, and still expect, all the ads to only have the 360 logo at the end. But this makes me wonder.

If Microsoft don't release a bundle they are flat out idiots.

Go in to HMV now and look at the pre order display with a MASSIVE Playstaiton logo, look close enough and squint a little, you just might see "and Xbox 360"

They said they would, and it makes sense because they inked a deal with T2 for the DLC. Shane Kim said they would own the launch via marketing, and I think everyone pretty much assumed that would mean a blitz of 360 exclusive promotion.

OK Sony have announced a bundle for �299 doesn't equate to MS doing the same. Besides without a bundle it'll still be cheaper on 360 so I wouldn't sweat too much about it.

The bundle has been officialy confirmed by Sony Portugal, according to this Portuguese site:

It's in Portuguese but says that Sony confirmed the bundle but gave no further information about it.

to answer the question in the first post, here in Holland at Mediamarkt you can buy a Xbox with Halo3 and GTA IV for free (to be picked up when it comes out)

edit: oh yeah, and no ps3 gta IV promotion there yet. but then again the GTA xbox360 promotion was big but not huge either

It's also possible the 360 will come out with a bundle in the US, where they call home. Europe is the PS3's last bastion, so you'd expect them to come out with guns'a'blazin'.

If that's the case then they are idiots (and therefore I don�t believe it). The effect of DLC on pushing GTA IV sales in the direction of 360 will be very limited (insignificant probably in comparison to factors like the 360�s lower price) and anyone with half a brain would know that. The DLC deal wasn�t meant to shift significantly more GTA IV 360 copies but to allow them to make lots of money through actually selling the DLC itself (if I�m not mistaken, a significant part of the DLC revenue will go to MS).
