GTA: Chinatown Wars gets 18 rating

It'll feature nearly three hours of video.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the first DS instalment in the series, has been given an 18 rating by the British Board of Film Classification.

That's according to the BBFC website, which confirms no cuts had to be made to the game. However, the BBFC does warn it "contains very strong language and drug references".

The website also reveals there are nearly three hours of video in Chinatown Wars. Or to be specific, two hours of "supplementary cut-scenes" and 48 minutes of "supplementary gameplay footage".

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is out here on 20th March. Visit the gamepage for all the latest news and screenshots.

Oh no. Someone hide this from the Daily Mail, they'll try to ban DSs!
I still reckon this'll be an alright game, since I liked GTA:Advance, and it's nice to see a dev still doing a game not targeting the new fangled core audience. Unless it has Brain Training challenges too.

BREAKING NEWS - Latest GTA instalment gets 18 certificate! B&Q has already sold out of MDF boards after a horde of angry and irresponsible mothers descended upon them to make placards!

This should be delicious. It'll be nice to play GTA on the move.

Nice. At least it means Rock Star hasn't held back in fear of alienating their game from DS owners.

"Hopefully, this will rekindle the fun of the series lost in GTA IV. There's already an article in The Sun "slamming" Nintendo and Rockstar for granting GTA a certificate for the "family friendly" DS."

Not surprising really; the newspapers these days seem insistent on telling us what we should/shouldn't buy or what kind of games should be released for a certain console. None of their business anyway; I decide what I want to play on my consoles thankyou very much.

Anyway, looking forward to this - I haven't really watched any trailers so I'm interested to see how it plays.

These game ratings are just bloody ludicrous. How can the Iron Man and Dark Knight movies get (far too low) 12A ratings yet some pixellated DS game gets whacked with an 18? I mean, how violent/ graphic can it possibly be???

From the screenies this seems to have a quasi 3d feel which may been you can actually see where you are going to a certain degree and therefore make it playable. If so, that 's pretty good news i;ve always wanted a good gta on the go and I don't have a psp so.. lets hope it works. Will be interesting what rockstar does on the platform! Whats that screenie with the screwdriver have they added a minigame to steal cars ...?
