The summary is that the PS3 version, whilst technically inferior to the Xbox version, graphically looks the same and sometimes better. But the difference is negligable. Which is why debating this issue pointless as the game speaks for itself. Brilliant game which is pretty the same on both systems. You can't ask for more.

well, from what I've read... its a no win on either side, both machines have excellent copies of the games, the differences spotted are exactly what have been banged on about in the 900+ comment review thread.
Actually there is a winner, its everyone, going back to the best copy of the game being the one that is sat in your primary machine. |

Basically, the 360 performs better and Rockstar haven't quite cut the mustard when they've come to the PS3 version.
Do developers know what they are doing when they come to knocking out a game on the PS3? or is it easier knocking out a game on the 360? |

Ive not read all of it yet EG but never mind the whiners, some effort has been put into this, like I say if you are going to compare do it properly.
Richard really went to town on this one... four pages... and videos? I can hear Swam crying from here... but as Razz said despite which version has the technical edge, asthetically they are hard to tell appart some even prefering the PS3 version. This should put an end to arguements on which version of GTA IV does what around here atleast(after the dust has settled in this thread), nobody got shafted on either format here, just enjoy the game. |

I'm happy I got the 360 version now, the frame rate is pretty horrible, I can't imagine playing it at all if it was worse.

Interesting that the 360 occasionally averages more than 30 fps. That means it must be spiking up to 60fps in the cutscenes, which is pretty impressive.
I found that looking out to sea can get 60fps from the 360 version, but then it's not exactly drawing very much ... On the dithering thing, is it maybe possible that Rockstar want the dithering for artistic effect, but the PS3 couldn't spare the cycles to run the filter? It seems too obvious on 360 not to be a deliberate choice. |

Anyone who thought the 360 version wouldn't be better was just kidding themselves. It was the lead platform and the PS3 does suck donkey ass.

Despite all the foreboding "WOOOO HERE WE GO!!!" comments, not a single 'fanboy' has stepped up to the plate yet.
Conclusion = No one cares. A great game is a great game. A commendable effort with the comparison though it must be said, very detailed. I did enjoy reading it, just out of curiosity to see if there were glaring differences, which there are not. |
